  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Why should we not worship the God who created us? It seems so daft and stupid not to. If we take invention of television as an example. When we watch a documentary and are told that John Logie Baird invented it, we accept this as true. Why then can we not accept that God created us, created the world, the universe. God is everything, God is special, more than special.
If we have any intelligence at all we should have the sence to believe in a creator. Nothing comes from nothing, now does it? Be sensible, we have to consider the vastness of the universe. So many kinds of animals, and all sorts of creatures. All this just doesent appear out of the blue, like magic. It has to be created.

Yep mate, even Job knew the secrets of a snowflake. And I assume they didn't have microscopes in his days, or did they?

Then when HE created electricity at creations, it wasn't discovered until thousands of years later.

He also said that he created dinosaurs as well in Job.

Agreed!

Atheism is far more illogical than belief in a creator God.

The atheist belief that human and non-human life, the earth and other planets, moons, galaxies and BILLIONS of stars just magically popped into existence uncaused, constitutes the greatest belief in miracles that I've ever heard of.

Jesus turning the water into wine was child's play, compared to everything I described above coming into existence uncaused.

Yet atheists will scoff at belief in Jesus' miracle, while they themselves rigidly adhere to belief in what constitutes the greatest miracle in history, that everything in the universe just appeared uncaused out of nothing and nowhere!

Even militant atheists like Isaac Asimov, who was very well read in many areas of science, admitted that science cannot disprove God.

So atheism is a nontheistic FAITH, and nothing else.

Oh, you mean all the parts to a Rolex can't be put into a bag, shaken up for 4.8 billion years and come out a complete, fully functional, real, Rolex?

The OP asks: "Why should we not worship the God who created us?"

If someone is not happy with his Life, why would he want to worship the entity who "stuck" him here?
I think it would illogical for an un-happy person to praise God for causing him untold pain.

Oh well, always remember that all those disciples who were killed for following our Lord Jesus Christ didn't die for a lie.

But, millions died for God and country. Oh well, that statement was put together by Satan, not God.

So the question is, how can anyone believe in God when there is so much saying that all those fossils found in coal seams were laid down, say 450 million years ago, when in fact they were laid down about 6000 years ago.

You know why, because a lot of those 450 million year old fossils, never evolved, because the same trees are still growing today in Australia.

So, while the evolution theory, I say again, theory is being taught in schools, then what else would you expect.

I know in America Christian Education is a out of schools. In Australia it's called Religious Education, and group of people who form a religion can teach whatever they like at schools.

I have experienced at some schools, you have to be very wary what you teach, as they accept you talking about God, but don't like you talking about our Lord Jesus Christ.

Because we live in a world where religion is forever debated. Is there a God? If so, which God, which religion is right? There is far less debate about the inventor of the television. In the light of eternity, I'd say it's safe to assume that television will be distinctly less significant.
At least, I hope so. :prayer:

God is everything, God is special, more than special.
If we have any intelligence at all we should have the sence to believe in a creator. Nothing comes from nothing, now does it? Be sensible, we have to consider the vastness of the universe. So many kinds of animals, and all sorts of creatures. All this just doesent appear out of the blue, like magic. It has to be created.

But that belief in creation can equally come from the Big Bang.

I know I'm probably not going to convince anyone with this and I won't try to, but in my humble opinion the difference between religion and faith is that science demands proof of itself, and faith does not. That is why it's called faith. People believe in the Big Bang because the facts of science have convinced them, just like people don't believe in the Big Bang because they have faith.
I get torn between the two an awful lot, and believe me, someone telling me that believing in God makes more sense doesn't help. You can't help what you believe. Do I have faith? Sometimes I do, sometimes I don't. But every time I read a note, a post, a paper or whatever telling me I have to believe in God because that makes more sense, I find myself drawn away from that belief a little more. Not out of rebellion, but because of some people's inexplicable habit of trying to 'prove' faith by pointing out the wonders of the universe. I don't need proof of God's existence. I'll believe because I have faith; if you ask me, that's exactly the point.

Please bear in mind that that's just my personal opinion, I know a lot of people won't agree with me.

I hope that answers your question.

.... it really isn't that simple man, you can't be condescending to people who do not believe in Your God. Regress is not an answer to unanswered questions.
You can't say something that you cannot prove or even show any evidence for is supposed to be universally accepted as the one truth just because there are no other answers. In short, you don't make up your own answers just becuase you don't know the right ones.
Just thought youd like another perspective.
It isn't STUPID not to believe in God, Albert Einstien was a firm dis-believer in a personal God.

I'm just saying you wont reach anyone with that kind of attitude or lack of understanding, ya know?

I do believe in God, but i think you should be a little more sensitive to people who can't.

Athiests don't neccesarily believe that everything just popped into existence, many call themselves athiests becuase the realm of science as is, cannot explain our existence and what they do know very strongly leans away from a God theory so they do not believe in a God.

Look around, how many things in this world seem to say that there is no God? Even going with the simplistic logic of "Two rocks in a locked room wont make a 3rd rock in a million years" how do you know anything about the nature of this assumed being? Does it like this or that? what are its ways? whats it's personality? Does "it" still interact with its creations at all?

It is very hard for some people to come over to christianity with all its specific details and teachings because so so much seems to be based on pure assumption, guess and bind faith. The burden of proof is on the christian to prove, not the unbeliever to dis-prove. If someone came up with a theory that the sun was actually a golden tea pot surrounded by fire where little green men lived... he would be dismissed as a nut even though we can't actually prove its not true... why can christians make such outlandish claims based on the same lack of evidence and they think people have to be able to disprove it?
Athiesm isn't stupid or illogical... you have to undestand that. How logical is the virgin birth? How logical is seemingly despotic murderous God of the old testament? How logical is the idea that people who don't do certain things go to a burning hell for eternity when they die? Ya know?

Religion isn't logical. It's not proven by facts. It's faith based. Faith requires no facts. By the way, I agree that it's possible to believe both in scientific evolution and in religion. I believe in both. I believe that God created these scientific laws and set these processes in motion and that he guides them. By the way, read what you said. You said that everything has to come from something and that we then came from God, but then comes the logical question of where did God come from? See? It's not logic. It's faith.

Atheism is not faith, atheism is the lack of belief in a God who requires faith. You are getting your mind twisted around right now. Atheism is NOT a belief system. If atheists want to find a possible and more-likely explanation of creation, we turn to scientists and ask them what they know. If they don't then we wait, but that's just an example. People need to NOT generalize that atheism is equivalent to believing in the Big Bang. They are two WAY different things. Christian Soldier is speaking out of ignorance.

To the original poster: People don't worship and believe because of the lack of physical evidence. God can't even be subjected to the scientific method due to this.

I think the reason for many people to deny God is because when you believe in Him you also obey His commands. You no longer can be master of your own and do what you like. Secondly, people can't belive in something that you can't see but faith isn't about seeing. These were the reasons I was atheist/agnostic but then I realized how empty and pointless life is without God. And the only living God that there is the Holy One of Israel and Jesus is the only way to Him.
