Being Triggered

I am having flashbacks of feelings I had after being attacked by a gang. I feel like I don't matter and hurt and scared and more. I am also going through grief now, too. The death of my father. I find myself doing a lot of compulsive things to try to evade my feelings. Everything is too painful.

I was just reading that flashbacks can be a symptom of Post Traumatic Stress Disorder. It would be so helpful fopr you to get a little counselling so you could learn a few coping techniques.

I'm sorry about the death of your father. I'm also very sorry about the pain you are suffering because of the gang.

I hope and pray that you will reach out and get a little professional help. May God lead your way.

The ultimate way of dealing with our pain is to lean on God and trust in His word. Psalm 23 comes to mind.

I struggle with compulsive behavior, too. It's so hard to face life sometimes.

i think i may have PTSD as well. i was raped in febuary. i have had: flashbacks, nightmares, shakiness, headache, back hurts sometimes. i dunno but i think i may. i cant go to dr til i get insurance with a Full time job though. so yeah.

im praying for you hon. if u need to vent, pm me. i am here for u. i'm only 20 but i was raped and understand what it feels like to have flashbacks and being scared. im really sorry about your dad. *hugs u*

I'm sorry it happened to you, too, Alicia. Some men are just scum in my opinion. It seems a lot of these types of men don't change. I do hope some of them can and do change, though, for the sake of other women out there mostly.

Sometimes it's really hard to deal with people too after you have PTSD. Thanks for your pm. I will write back soon.

I understand COMPLETELY what you are going through. I DO infact have PTSD, and its sounding exactly like it. I'm happy to hear that you are seeking professional help because it is the only way you're going to recover from it all. I was raped a year ago. Just know that you DO matter especailly to everyone here, if you didn't matter we wouldn't read and/or reply so you DO matter. You matter to me, and to everyone here, and to GOD. I am sorry to hear about the death of your father, I haven't dealt with something quite like that but I have with death. It is tough to get through, but I know you can do it, I know many people who have. What kind of compulsive things do you find yourself doing? Depending on what it is, it may be a symptom of PTSD or OCD. I have them both. If there is anything you don't feel comfortable talking about with everyone but want to reply to me feel free to PM me. I'm on here often daily, so you will get a quick reply. I'm an open book (at least here where I know I am safe) so feel free to ask questions as well. If you need anything don't hesitate at all!

Thank you. The compulsive things I do are not harmful to me at this point. I have slowed down. I also have had some symptoms of OCD but the compulsions I've been having are not that. The OCD is helped by antidepressants. I'm glad that is not acting up. Thank you for your concern. I am sorry you have PTSD, too.
