  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Scholars equal propaganda? Since when?
Scholars have always pointed out flaws in other denominations theology, doctrines, and practices and understanding of events. Since only one is true, the rest is propaganda. it is not hard to find inconsistencies. It is like modern medical research, the summary states the pharmaceutical position as they are paying for it.

That doesn't make what they say propaganda. Anyone who publishes propaganda is no scholar.

Once a person realizes the pasters/preachers/priests etc are twisting your head....understand its not by accident...but deliberate...wag the dog...hurstism..fabrication, mind control...what ever name you want to give to it....because its deliberately being done. Then you work on why. It dawns on you this is what Yeshua was talking about. Remember not all of them are like that, but only scriptural prayer and more personal one on one with God will cure any deception being placed over you.

Our rabbi is getting old and somewhat easily distracted. But at one time he was working on a "curriculum" for traditional churches to use in discipling Jewish congregants in their unique calling as Jewish believers in Yeshua. I don't think he got very far before being pulled in another direction.

An admirable thing to do. What other direction was he called?

Hoshiyya:

I was just reading a Christianity Today artical about trends in Messianic Judaism, which mostly discussed MJAA, UMJC and FMC. All of a sudden, there was this reference: "The movement has even entered the Roman Catholic church. Cardinal Jean-Marie Lustiger, archbishop of Paris, states openly, "I'm a Jew," though his theological beliefs are obviously in line with the Roman Catholic tradition." See, we are becoming more and more well known!

Of course there are Jews in the RCC. Nothing new about that. (Torquemada the Inquisitor may even have been Jewish.)
There's Jews in Scientology, Buddhism and Islam too. So what ?

The point is Torah.
Father Lustiger is apparently a Catholic Jew, not a Torah-observant MJ.

You don't know the extent of his observance. I don't believe he is fully observant the way I am. But it is known that he has Jewish traditions. The quote of the article was saying that Messianic Judaism was even making headway into the Catholic church. It was a short article and chose to say this over all the things it could have said. Have you no comment about that?????

There is absolutely nothing stopping a Catholic priest from being observant if he is a Jew and he so chooses.

Indeed. We should all be keeping Torah.

Nothing stops a Jew from keeping Torah, if he so chooses.
Nothing stops a gentile from keeping Torah, if he so chooses.

The Torah-observant path would quickly take him out of his Catholic vocation, though.

Nothing stops a scientologist from keeping Torah either.
Why would a scientologist keep Torah? Catholicism sprung from Judaism. The Jews are our elder brothers. You can't say that about scientology. <STAFF EDIT>

I am saying a scientologist CAN keep Torah, just like you said a Catholic priest CAN keep Torah.
Physically and/or hypothetically speaking, it is possible.

But as for whether they WOULD - I could just as well ask:
Why would a Catholic, let alone a Catholic priest, keep Torah ?

Do you think a scientologist can keep Torah with the blessings of the superiors in Scientology? NO. But a priest who is a Jew can keep Torah with the blessings of Rome. <STAFF EDIT>
