  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

I really don't know what to do.

I shouldn't have indulged in sin but I willingly did, knowing it was wrong today. It's not the first time. I have been here before lately and each time I swear it's not going to happen again.

I do it knowing full well I'm going to regret it. And I do. I really do. I'd pay money to undo it and obviously I can't.

But can God forgive me?
If I have done it after already seeking forgiveness and done it knowing I'll regret it after.

I don't know if I'm now a lost cause. If I am, it's very scary indeed

You are not a lost cause and God is willing to forgive. We all sin, and sometimes we commit the same sins over and over and over. I'm guilty of it. What matters is that we repent and try to live for God. We're still gonna screw up, and we're all flawed. However, God just asks us to do our BEST.

God sees us as his children. Now, if a child runs through the house and breaks something, is the parent gonna forgive them. If they are a godly parent, then yes. The child may get in trouble, but they will be forgiven. Now imagine this happens every week, or even every day. Will that parent still forgive the child? Of course! They may try teaching the child not to run through the house, or discipline them for their actions, but the parent will forgive and won't stay mad at their child forever (even if they are mad for a little while). This is what God's forgiveness is like. He will forgive us over and over, and will help us try to do better next time.

 His grace supersedes all of our sins and wanderings and aloofness, etc. from our God.

There is a reason that God called David a "man after His own heart" and the "apple of His eye", even after David sinned abominably. And that is because David CAME BACK to God and he repented. It's not the "sinning" per se that is of the most crucial here, it is what we do AFTER we sin that is, brother.

Praying, brother. God bless you (((hug)))

What we feel is willful sinning might actually not be as willful as we think.

Romans 7:
18I know that nothing good lives in me, that is, in my flesh; for I have the desire to do what is good, but I cannot carry it out. 19For I do not do the good I want to do. Instead, I keep on doing the evil I do not want to do. 20And if I do what I do not want, it is no longer I who do it, but it is sin living in me that does it.…

So how bad was it?

If you keep on killing people, for example, you might be in real trouble.

I see what you meant when you put this, but I don't think we should have to consider "how bad" a sin was. In God's opinion, a lie has the same punishment as going on a killing spree: death. A sin is a sin, no matter how the world views it.

Regardless of what the sin was, God is still willing to forgive.

But people die even if they don't willfully sin, and death isn't limited to just humans. Death doesn't seem to be a punishment for sin, unless sin is just existing. Things die and things happen.

When sin entered the world, death entered with it. Everyone deserves death because of their sins, but God's forgiveness allows us to live beyond death. Yes, everyone dies in this world, but those who accept the LORD's forgiveness and choose to follow Him will be granted an eternity in Heaven with God. Those who rejected God are sent to suffer in hell and experience a second death.

My point in my previous post was that people have different definitions of "how bad" a sin can be and I was trying to point out that God sees all sins as equally wrong.

What did you do? don't stress too much about the god stuff. People will tell you what god thinks about the situation, event, or choice that has happened in your life. That is all it is, their opinions that they deludedly believe it's god's thoughts on the matter, when it really isn't. Go to a bar, drink a shot of beer, go home, take a nap and don't do it again.

Unless the thing you did was hurt someone...
