Hey Guys,

I'm 13 years old and my dad brought home this book one night, about 3 days ago. The book is Drawing Near by John Bevere. It really interested me, before, I really wasn't a Christian, I prayed but no sincerely, I went to church, but I really didn't want to be there. I just finished reading the book and it has touched my life. I want to get really close to God. I want to have an intimate relationship with Him. Before, I would start reading the Bible but it was just reading it, I didn't get anything from it, but now I can understand the things God is trying to reach us with. I want the Holy Spirit to talk to me and I want to be able to communicate with God. My question to you guys is, Do you guys think that I should get baptized at my age? I really want to dedicate my life to Him. Before, I wanted to become an Engineer or a architect but now I am thinking about becoming a minister or something that deals with the work of God. I just want to hear your thoughts.

If you feel that you have taken the plunge (so to speak ;)) and have become a Christian, then yes I definitely think you could and should get baptized. Have you prayed for forgiveness, and accepted Jesus into your life? If so, go for it. Baptism is a public expression of your desire and willingness to follow Jesus, and I personally think it is an important step to take. You are certainly old enough to make that decision for yourself, and it sounds like you sincerely want to follow that road.

I would say talk to your parents about it, and pray about it too. If you still feel this strongly next month - in other words, if it's not just an effect the book had on you, but sincerely how you want to live your life - then I would say do it. :)

I think that is great! I look back on my life and wich I would have had someone give me a book and encourage me in faith like your Dad. I can tell you from experience, as I'm nearly 54, that every single word of the Bible is true, and the only thing missing is our understanding and wisdom, but it comes with study and by obeying God. Set before us is life and death. Each day we choose, and if we obey God, we have lives well lived without so much regret, because we all grow old and have to look back on what we have accomplished in life by service to God and others or a life of selfish failure. As a young person, I hope you can keep yourself from being drawn into the world's sins. I pray the Lord will bless and keep you strong in Him, but you must rise to each new day and not rely on just the past days filling. Each day requires more prayer and filling of God's word and Holy Spirit to sustain us. God bless....

Php 1:6 And I am sure that God, who began the good work within you, will continue his work until it is finally finished on that day when Christ Jesus comes back again.

Romans 12:1 ¶ And so, dear brothers and sisters, I plead with you to give your bodies to God. Let them be a living and holy sacrifice—the kind he will accept. When you think of what he has done for you, is this too much to ask?
2 Don’t copy the behavior and customs of this world, but let God transform you into a new person by changing the way you think. Then you will know what God wants you to do, and you will know how good and pleasing and perfect his will really is.

You just can think oh i want to be a minister you have to pray & have a calling on your life. That later God will tell you.
Just get real close to him now as a teenager. If you what to be in GOD'S ministry just ask.
