  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

I am a Composition instructor, I also write press releases and newsletters for two organizations, but all this editorial and facts type writing has started making me feel lonesome for when I was creative about my writing. I've restarted journalling but so far its blah blah blah. Do you have any ideas for becoming more creative again I seem to be in a rut.

Read. That is one of the most useful, integral pieces of advice my Composition instructor(s) ever gave me. It doesn't really matter what, although I recommend the Bible first, then your favorite books/comics/whatever, and then go nuts with some ideas. I write mine down, since I have a memory roughly equivalent to that of a grape-fruit.

Another - and this one may not be as fun, but it helps a lot - is to force yourself to write something. It may not be something great, or huge, or ground-breaking, but it's enough to get the juices flowing. I highly recommend poetry, because that's profundity smashed into a tiny space (usually); compacting ideas or feelings is a chore, but a labor of love, you'll find.

I hope that helps. :)
