Okay, I think I remember how each of the peices move....
Pawn: move two spaces from it's starting position, but afterwards, it can only move one space.
Bishop: Can move diagnolly across the board, forwards oor backwards.
Rook: Moves in a straight line across the board. It can move left, right, forwards, and backwards.
Knight: moves in an L shape. For example, it can move one space to the right, and then up two spaces. It can also do the reverse, and move two space to the right, and up one space.
Queen: Can move like a Rook, Knight, and Bishop. This means it can move ina straight line like a Rook, the L shape of the Knight, or diagnolly like the Bishop.
King: Can only move one space in any direction (diagnolly, forward, backward, right, left). When an opposing peice can move the following turn to defeat the King, it's called "Check". The player then has one turn to move th King out of the way. When the King can no longer move to protect itself, it's called "checkmate" and the game is over.
Because the game doesn't check to see if the peices are making valid moves, you can cheat the game (ex: having a Pawn move like a Rook) so if you make an invalid move, I'll tell you.
Besides these rules, I'll tell you anything else as it comes up.
