i work as a sonographer

btw i was going to say have you looked into the possibility of becoming a nursing practitioner?

every country is different, but where i live, they get paid considerably more and has the potential of setting up one's own shop which gives one more autonomy.

you might want to check out what this branch of nursing is like in US in terms of pay and demands for them etc

I like working in a team though, but i did think about it, and even thought about getting masters so maybe can teach instead, the downside is i really really hate paperwork lols. Lol, i complain too much . Lol, i dont want to have another student loan. I'm looking into buying properties maybe and renting out...but idk.

Do mom and dad realize that you'd like to do a Masters? (because you said they depend on you now).

ok....

based on your username, i thought you are currently working as an RN already?

as for your fear of injuring your back, i am wondering if there are any support braces you might be able to buy and wear now to help minimize your chances of injury?

it seems you are currently working at a hospital? if so, you must be a part of the multidisciplinary team involving other health professionals such as occupational therapists and physical therapists?

if you know some personally already from work, you might ask them for advice on devices you can use to prevent work injuries for the type of work involved...

if not, maybe you can look for opportunities to "snatch" one of them when they are in a good mood and ask them for some advice and point you towards the right directions in terms which websites might give you more information on what your need...

or better still double check with them on which professions would best know this kind of stuff.

though when you do, pay attention to their tone in terms of whether they are certain of what they are telling you or they are a bit unsure.

you don't want end up getting something that would increase your chance of injury.

if you want to search online, bear in mind anyone can post anything these days, it is best to stick to reputable websites

or alternatively you could look for ideas online and verify them with professionals later on, or use those ideas as a starter for finding good search terms that may lead you to information you want in more reputable websites.

Even with lift equipment it's still kinda rough lol, there are days i get pts that weigh 400lbs. With even help from 3 to 4 people to just turn, could still feel strain on back, but maybe it's cause of my size i'm short lol

I've been dealing with a lot of anxiety at work, mostly the day before work, it is like my body dreadfully anticipates the high stress approaching. Anyone experience something similar? What do you do to cope? Any practical advice?
I had the same thing with a few jobs I had in the past. Obviously, you have to pray for strength and courage. You have an important job, I mean you're helping people's physical health every time you work, people who have made mistakes, intentionally or not, they end up in front of you needing help. That's a big burden to deal with, but I think God wouldn't have put you on that path if you weren't strong enough to handle it. Look for the little things; fun with coworkers, making an ill patient laugh or forget the fact they're in a hospital. I'm sure there are a lot of good coping mechanisms provided before my post, but that's all I have :/ I pray the Lord eases your stress, and provides you with fulfillment in a job that so many have a lot of respect for because many can't hack it, and you're literally helping others improve their physical well-being. :praying:

i don't know if carry out diagnostic procedure on patients with their full consent qualifies us as peeps, but i know what you mean.

yes, i really like mine job, it is not mine first choice though, i always wanted to be a high school teacher like mine dad until the job market for teachers tanked where i was.

anyway, i think it is for the best, it is getting harder and harder to be teaching these days as kids are having less and less respect for proper authorities.

Oh peep is a short word for people, actually i should have said peeps, lol, but now im thinking of the marshmallow, ughhh, but i meant to just say people lol, yeah it's rough being a teacher, but I think it depends which country you plan to teach, in Asian countries, children still highly respect teachers. Here in the West can vary from place to place.

i am sorry to hear that

i guess i was thinking more about anything you could use one yourself, but i am not sure if there is any.

it is not mine specialty

but i think it is worth to check it out.

i mean i don't think there would be one thing that might solve your problem

but giving how important your back is, it might be worth while to do risk reduction

also you probably know this already, sometimes work place injuries can result from not follow procedures every single times, maybe because one is tired or without following the procedures one might still be ok

anyway, i think the false sense of security that sometimes does people in.

Yeah, we do follow body mechanics, and have lift equipment. Just sometimes, everything happens so fast next thing you know, you are trying to prevent a pt from leaving the floor because he/she confused.

Yeah, thanks for the prayers, I'm gonna need it. Headed back to work this Friday (gulp). I'm both excited and tense because we got new equipment needing to familiarize with, and new protocols...(*breathes)

If you are interested, there arw many online teaching jobs, there's one called VIP Kids, you jusy need a headset and webcam, they provide the materials and you get to teach kids in China how to speak English.
