Abraham was the father of faith, faith in the God of creation.
Abraham's bosom simply means we join Abraham when we die, wherever he is.
Logically speaking, that might seem to be the meaning.

But it isn't. The Bosom of Abraham is also called by several other names, none of which can be made to mean "you'll be with him."

This is the state in the afterlife which, previous to the crucifixion, held those who would later be released to be in heaven.

No one could be in heaven before the act occurred by which the Savior overcame sin and death.

Had it been possible for man to keep the Law perfectly...and thereby deserve salvation...he would not have needed forgiveness and a Savior!

Making the bosom of Abraham a separate location is mere tradition with no ground in scripture. Jesus used it because it was a common euphemism at the time. His prime purpose was to show that not everyone ended up on the right side after they died.
No one could be in heaven before the act occurred by which the Savior overcame sin and death.
Jesus was the "............lamb slain from the foundation of the earth." His death on the cross was applicable to all those who put their trust in the Lord, even in the OT, and the rest of the non covenant world.
Cornelius demonstrates that.
Had it been possible for man to keep the Law perfectly...and thereby deserve salvation...he would not have needed forgiveness and a Savior!
Nobody mentioned keeping the Law perfectly. The OT is full of forgiveness and righteousness at the hand of God, not the Law.

Apparently, you must not have bothered to read the earlier posts in this thread. What some call the Bosom of Abraham or Abraham"s Bosom is also called Paradise or the Limbo of Our Fathers. It of course is now vacant since the souls there were freed to go to heaven by Christs sacrifice on the cross. It is probably these souls to whom Christ went after his crucifixion and before his Resurrection, although I have read some people speculating that he went to hell in order to gloat (!).

Bosom of Abraham is the same as Abraham's bosom.
Limbo is just foolish Catholic mythology.
And just as you say above, Paradise is another name for Abraham's bosom, and that very fact proves my point.

After the crucifixion, the thief on the cross went to Paradise, the same place that Jesus was going to.
It of course is now vacant since the souls there were freed to go to heaven by Christs sacrifice on the cross.
As you say above, Abraham's bosom is the same as Paradise which is the garden of God. It has not been vacated at all, but remains a fundamental part of God's heavenly kingdom.

We know that Paradise is still in use because Paul visited it, and Revelation tells us that the Tree of Life is there.
'He who has an ear, let him hear what the Spirit says to the churches. To him who overcomes, I will grant to eat of the tree of life which is in the Paradise of God.'

If Lazarus went to Abraham's bosom before the crucifixion, and you agree it's the same as Paradise, and scripture shows Paradise is still in use, then OT believers went to the same place as NT believers do now.

All of the aforementioned are terms for the same place.

Limbo is just foolish Catholic mythology..
We are not speaking here of the old teaching about what becomes of unbaptized infants who die (Limbo).
