I like a good beer. One I was really starting to like was Anchor Steam. It's out of Frisco. It's hopped up pretty good so it kinda kicks you when you drink it. The most killer of all is Samuel Smith's India Pale Ale. No, not sam adams.
But I haven't had a drink in...a couple of years now. I think that allows me to be a better example for the teens here.

Samuel Smith's Taddy Porter and Oatmeal Stout are really good too. Also Old Peculier, Burt Grant's Imperial Stout, and Belgian beers such as Orval, Duvel, and Corsendonk. Those are very flavorful. As far as I'm concerned, if beer doesn't have a good flavor, why drink it?

I also believe there's nothing wrong with drinking in moderation. I tend to have one or two drinks per week at most. Partly because I tend to wake up the next morning feeling really tired, even if I only have one beer.

I really really like guiness, but if I drink one pint now I'd be hammered.

it's alcohol. drink responsibly. i've done some stupid things but growing up is a learning experience. everyone tries to find their equilibrium and i'm happy i've found mine.

The question that I ask when confronted with some 'questionable' thing is 'does it detract from my ability to focus on God?' With beer, the answer is 'a beer or two doesn't, 10 beers does.' In other words, pay attention to what you are doing, and remain in control, and enjoy a good beer.

I also believe that God gives some the liberty to drink in moderationand He also gives some a conviction not to drink at all and I believe that both sides need to respect the other.
This is pretty much my opinion tooo.

John 1:1-3 this is the scripture where Jesus turns the water into wine. The people wondered why they had saved the best wine for later. So, Jesus made not just wine, but really good wine, I'm not suprised. (They usually served the good stuff first and after the guests had a few drinks used the cheaper wine.) I take it wine is ok in moderation.

I rarely drink because I have to take allergy medication but I might have wine with my dinner if I could sometimes. Once, I had a couple of drinks and it was time to pray and I couldn't, felt embarassed, even though God saw me anyway, I just felt disrespectful to the Lord, so for me, one very rarely is enough.

I agree with Nate.

my own opinion is this: everything in moderation.

gluttony is a sin so is eating a sin? God doesn't tell us not to eat. Candy bars have no nutritional value, yet they are perfectly legal and available to all ages. I don't know of any Christian saying 'don't eat a candy bar.' If I thought I'd be a better witness by having a drink with someone, I'll have it. I think we need to break down the legalistic barriers our 'forefathers' created. This world needs to know that we're not all stuffy and boring and afraid that our own shadow will make us fall into sin.

I'm not a big fan of alcoholic drinks (the taste) so I feel fairly confident that self-control won't be an issue. If I know the other person has a problem with it, then I'll suggest having coffee instead. :)

I think that if someone wants to have a couple beers, or a glass of wine, it all depends on them - whether or not they feel they should...(I may add here that it is not okay to get drunk - as my brothers and sisters have noted, there are many scriotures to back that up, but there are many scriptures to say that to have a drink is okay.)At my friend's bachelorette party (we are all Christians), we bought soem alcohol, but NOBODY got drunk..We just had a couple things to drink each....One of my friends felt guilty about it afterwards....She felt that for her it wasn't right, but mostly everyone else didn't feel that way....Nobody judged anyone, or felt badly towards another...

The only reason I say that it is up to each person whether or not to have a couple of beers is becasue the Bible actually does say that it is okay to drink - but NOT to get drunk.....I have three scriptures (although there are MANY more).....

PROV. 31:6 "Give strong drink to him who is perishing, and wine to those who are bitter of heart." Also - read before and after that.....

ROM. 14:21 "It is good neither to eat meat, nor drink wine nor do anything by which your brother stumbles or is offended or is made weak." This is saying that we should not do it if it will cause a brother to stumble - we shouldn't do it in their presence...For instacne I was an alcoholic right up to the minute I recieved salvation...I didnt want to be around alcohol for a while - I felt it could cause me to stumble...We need to be aware of the positions and tribulations that our brothers and sisters are currently in....

1 CORIN. 6:9-10 "Do you not know that the unrighteous will not inherit the kingdom of God? Do not be decieved. Neither fornicators, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor homosexuals, nor sodomites, nor theives, nor covetous, nor drunkards, nor revilers, nor extortioners will inherit the kingdom of God."

Also, if you drink in moderation - and by this a mean like one at dinner, or two NOTHING THAT WILL GET YOU DRUNK (Some people think that moderation means, getting drunk every once in a while and not every day....This is not what I mean.) it does not mean that you will become a drunkard or an alcoholic, but if you feel that it will in your life, or that you may be weak to alcohol, I strongly suggest that you stay away from it...

That's my peso! :)

I enjoyed drink at special occasions. Then I got a binge drinking habit. Now I've found my way back to the Lord and away from excessive drinking. I no longer drink to get drunk and I no longer drink because I want to get plastered and forget my problems or to let out my feelings. So I believe that drinking is fine in moderation but if you begin to depend on it to allow you to do something or feel a certain way then it's becoming a problem.

My opinion is that when we take communion God said to take part in unlamented bread (sorry for spelling) that is is rid of impurities. If he doesnt want the bread to have impurities why would he want the drink to have them...I do not believe drinking alcohol is right becuase we are the holy temple of God.
