Last year was my first experience with bed bugs. Long story short, I ended up in the mental hospital (there were other stresses that contributed to that). Now, it seems I inadvertently took at least one to a family member's house.

These things are pure evil. Absolutely evil. Please pray that my family member is able to rectify the problem before it gets out of hand. I couldn't stand it if their house got infested because of me. Also please pray I will be able to move out of the apartment I'm currently in. The residents here keep bringing in bed bugs and I can't take it.

Yikes! Praying!

My buddy got tore up by bedbugs in Iraq. He was on a forward operating base (FOB) for a few nights and crashed asleep on a matress in a trailer where the other Soldiers stayed. He went back to his much cleaner room on a larger base and a few followed and got in his bedding there. Poor man looked like he slept in a meat grinder.

They got rid of all the bedding, turned up the room heat very high and sealed the windows and doors. The extreme heat killed them and then they washed the entire room in bleach.

So sorry to hear this.

I also experienced bedbug infestation in the Middle East in Saudi. They were brought in by the Indian tenants.

I killed all the bedbugs by washing all the sheets, using clothes iron on the bare bed mattress which kill them and the eggs by heat and then sealing the mattress with garbage plastic bags.

I also moved bed frame away from the walls. I slept on the plastic-sealed mattress barely covered by a small sheet (so the sides are exposed) for several weeks. I didn't have single bed bug bite since then.

There were live bedbugs that remained elsewhere on the room but since they could no longer live on the plastic-covered mattress and somehow didn't attempt to climb my bed, they all died eventually for lack of food.

I also sealed my apartment door all around so bedbugs coming from the other rooms can't come inside.

So by the time I went home from Middle East, all were dead, no live bugs went with me, praise God!

Father, may You deliver from the dreaded bed bug, but in the midst of the trial also give patience, a teachable spirit, self control, and wisdom. Amen.

great advice by everyone

1. one thing that kills bed bugs - doesn't allow them to breathe - is diatomaceous earth - you can get it at walmart

you sprinkle it around the bed, couch, baseboards - in a 1/2" thick bead

when the bb's crawl through it it sticks to their skin and suffocates them and desiccates them

if you get food grade diatomaceous earth it is safe for pets

2. bb's don't like light or heat - and they need to breathe - so incorporating any of these 3 tactics will work on getting rid of them - they are attracted by the co2 we breathe out - so beds and couches - anyplace we spend a lot of time - is where they will congregate and lay eggs - eggs take approximately 3 months to hatch - bed bugs also go behind baseboards and hide in walls
