whitedove, can I ask you something? Would you eat in a restroom? Why or why not? restrooms are dirty and full of germs, if you wouldn't eat there, or feed a toddler in a bathroom why on earth would you think it's expected that a baby (who is even MORE susceptible to germs/infections) should eat there?

CHristian women you say? Christian women have nursed since the beginning of times IN PUBLIC. It's only a recent phenomenon created by pervision and oversexualization of breasts and part only of the US culture that has reduced BF to be a dirty thing.

Girl, please. I would eat --and have eaten-- almost anywhere. I love to eat. I just try not to eat in front of other people when they're hungry. That's just rude. But, that is not the point here.

You missed any point I was trying to make in my earlier posts. I did not say that women should only nurse in restrooms (last time I checked, restrooms with couches and seating areas are typically those that are well-kept anyway). I merely said that women might be better off nursing their babies away from possibly-offended eyeballs... because such an act is truly intimate.

I'll simply shake the dust off my feet on this thread, which is fine because I wear open-toe sandals anyway.

instead of women having to change something entirely NATURAL (i.e. how they feed their babies)

perhaps what needs to happen is for men to change something UN-NATURAL (a perverted view of the breast and sexuality)?

In other words, the perversion isn't in the exposed breast(s) it is in how people react

God made men to react to certain things certain ways; Breasts is one of them, and we love 'em.

Further, beyond attraction to the body part itself, the act of breastfeeding isnt comfortable to everyone, its a more intimate moment with mother and child that not everyone can just sit around and see w/ out feeling uncomfortable, the easiest solution is for the mother to simply cover up.

There is nothing wrong with a woman breastfeeding in public, all they need to do is use a covering, and it solves the whole problem, they get their "natural" experience, and keep any possible immodesty at a minimum. There is really no good argument that says that they shouldn't cover up in public, there just isn't. I have seen many breast feeding mothers use these tiny little baby blankets, its called being considerate and modest. There is nothing wrong with being either one of those things, so this really shouldn't be such an issue.

Do you believe that "bare" (whatever one takes that to mean) breastfeeding in public is the natural way to feed a baby? This is a serious question, because as I noted above, although seeing breastfeeding in public is fairly common around here, I have never seen "bare" breastfeeding (in the way I am taking it) anywhere other than at night in my bedroom.

It seems to me, and I certainly could be wrong about this, that many, perhaps most, might agree depending on the meaning of "cover up" as you use it. So, how are you using it? Is it just a synonym for being discreet? Or do you mean that there must be some sort of cloth or blanket involved so that there is absolutely no show of even a bit of a patch of breast skin (if you know what I mean) or a momentary glimpse of nipple as the baby starts or stops (and by the way why is anyone staring/looking that closely that they are not only able to see this but be disturbed by it)? Seems to me if the idea is not a bit of anything showing, then the one looking/staring is doing so too intently and is being rude--and I think it would be equally rude to look/stare that intently at an adult eating or just sitting around, etc.

how do I get the mods to close the thread? should I just report my own post?

As far as I know, the mods will close a thread if the OP requests it be closed. Since you've done that, it should be closed in the near future. You may want to PM a mod though and let them know that you want it closed, just in case. :)
