41 Now Jesus sat opposite the treasury and saw how the people put money into the treasury. And many who were rich put in much. 42 Then one poor widow came and threw in two mites, which make a quadrans. 43 So He called His disciples to Himself and said to them, “Assuredly, I say to you that this poor widow has put in more than all those who have given to the treasury; 44 for they all put in out of their abundance, but she out of her poverty put in all that she had, her whole livelihood.”

Baptist tithe (as shown in the first posts) is not based on any biblical doctrine but in a necesity of financing the church some how. That is baptist tithe.

In fact, there is not any verse in the entire bible that teaches to give a 10% of the income. One of the pathetic attempts to found a verse is Mark 12;41-42 that doesent talk of tithe at all.

Dear, my wife and I are very happy living with God as we do. If you don't want to give back to God some of what He gives to you, so be it. Just don't criticize Christians for living as they understand God would like them to do. I want to remind you that Baptists have the freedom to live as God has expressed His desires in the Scriptures. We will continue following the practice of tithing. You do as you wish. You are the one who brought up this subject inviting comments. If you don't want an answer, don't ask the question. I believe even more now that you started this post to criticize Baptists who practice tithing.

1 Do not INSULT ME. It is not if I want to give to God or not.
2 You and your wife ARE NOT GIVING TO GOD but to the baptist church
3 God do not expecdt we give him any money back. In fack, God did never accepted any money from men.

You can live your life as you like. If you want to desobey God and tithe is up to you. I rather obey God and dont tithe.

Exactly. To give 10% of the church is (according to the baptist church) the same that giving to any organization we want to support. The baptist church has financial need and one can cooperate or not.

It has nothing to do with obeying God, to giving God back, or any biblical doctrine. It is just a financial solution found to support the human organization names "baptist church".

Never the less; we must warn christians to the deep harm of giving that way.

However if your church is about to be condemend by the local government because it unsafe due to no funds for repair... than you want to give until it hurts...

Spiritually speaking, it should never hurt... unless one is greedy...

1. But a certain man named Ananias, with Sapphira his wife, sold a possession,

2. And kept back [part] of the price, his wife also being privy [to it], and brought a certain part, and laid [it] at the apostles' feet.

3. But Peter said, Ananias, why hath Satan filled thine heart to lie to the Holy Ghost, and to keep back [part] of the price of the land?

4. Whiles it remained, was it not thine own? and after it was sold, was it not in thine own power? why hast thou conceived this thing in thine heart? thou hast not lied unto men, but unto God.

5. And Ananias hearing these words fell down, and gave up the ghost: and great fear came on all them that heard these things.
6. And the young men arose, wound him up, and carried [him] out, and buried [him].

7. And it was about the space of three hours after, when his wife, not knowing what was done, came in.

8. And Peter answered unto her, Tell me whether ye sold the land for so much? And she said, Yea, for so much.

9. Then Peter said unto her, How is it that ye have agreed together to tempt the Spirit of the Lord? behold, the feet of them which have buried thy husband [are] at the door, and shall carry thee out.

10. Then she fell down straightway at his feet, and yielded up the ghost: and the young men came in, and found her dead, and, carrying [her] forth, buried [her] by her husband.

Honestly Zeleste I see nothing wrong with it. I believe we should give what we can to whoever or whatever we feel the Holy Spirit guides us to give to. But if someone feels 10% is what they should give and that it should go to the church them more power to them. We know that the Holy Spirit ispiret Luke while writing Acts of the Apostels; but in chapter 15 we found the Holy Spirit talking personally, not inspiring but directly talking. The only time in the entire Bible that the Holy Spirit is talking directly is Act 15:28-29. The Holy Spirit is prohibiting you and all christians to practice anything from the Law. That includes the prohibition of tithing.

The widow was not tithing.
Tithing is not mentioned.

If you want to give 10%to a sosiety for protecting animal it is OK. If you want to give 10% to an horfanate, also it is OK. If you want to give 10% to a church it is OK aswell. No difference.

The above is what baptist practice; to give 10% for financing the church. What baptist dont do is to tithe in any biblical manner. If you try to conect the baptist practice of giving, to conect it to any text in the Bible, you are making a freat mistake.

Baptis give to the church because they love it, as somebody else love animals or orphans. No conection with the bible or to God.

If you tithe because you read it in the Bible; then, than kind of tithe is absolutelly prohibited to christians.

Exactly. This is the baptist section. Baptis give 10% of the income because they want to support the financiaql costs. Any other teaching concerning tithe is a new believe that can not be posted here.
