So little children can go to heaven without being baptized.

Not that I disagree with you, but my question would be this: On what basis do you believe little children can be saved? And is the basis for the salvation of infants and little children different than for adults?

Ultimately: What is salvation? How is a person saved?

These are fair questions. The first sin is what sends people to hell. So newborns and infants who have not sinned yet can go to heaven. So do fetuses who were miscarried or aborted because they too are children who have not sinned. But once that first sin occurs, the child needs to be saved like anyone else.

Salvation occurs when someone becomes a Christian. It is based on the death and resurrection of Jesus. I am 100% certain being baptized as a baby had no effect on what happened the night of March 16, 1997 - when the friend who invited me to church said, "God, give Andrea the Holy Spirit."

Firstly: What is the reason you believe these things?

Secondly, some follow up questions based on your responses.

1) So salvation is primarily about avoiding going to Hell and going to Heaven?

2) Since one is not in need of salvation until they commit their first sin, can one simply maintain their sinless innocence into adulthood and thus be rewarded with Heaven, regardless of whether someone is a Christian or not?

3) What would constitute a first sin? For example, would a one or two year old child disobeying their parents, for example saying "no!" or, say, not sharing their toys with other children be a sin? How does this work exactly?
