Hello I got baptized as a baby and raised up as a catholic but now I'm just a christian who just believe in what the bible says and not in the Catholic teaching but the bible says reprent and be Baptized and as a baby I didn't reprent or believed. Should I get baptised now when I believe I already have contact whit someone who can baptise me. And I want to be sure I got baptized and I'm Not sure. And 1 other question can you sell your soul? I have ocd and have alot of thoughts about it and it makes me a little bit scared and people say you need to sign a contract or something but do you need to sign that contract in real life or in your thoughts because when I found out you need to sign a Contract I got thoughts i was singing a contract and that is making me scared.. I always say my soul belongs to jesus and God. But still I'm scared can you sell your soul and if you can do you need to sign the contract in real life on paper or in your thoughts or imaging that you do it. And should I get baptized now.
Thank you

Repent and be baptized in His Holy Spirit. Many think it is water but it is His Holy Spirit that must fill us in order to be in the Body of Christ. Sealed with His Holy Spirit is the only contract you need.
Blessings

You cannot sell your soul, and if it were possible, you could not do it unawares or by being tricked into it. So do not worry about that.

As for Baptism, most churches believe that you can only be baptized once--which you were. From there on, it's a matter of whether you live up to the Christian ideal of believing in Christ as the Lord and as your Savior, attempting to follow his values and teachings as you go through life. Going through another baptism, however, won't do anything that hasn't already been done. I would recommend that you find a good church and be part of it, though.

First things first.

Scripture says, Jesus said.

Mark 16:16
He that believeth and is baptized shall be saved;

There are two conscience steps which must be taken in order for a Non Believer to become a Saved Believer.

1) A person must consciously Believe Jesus died for their sins in order for them to receive Forgiveness of those sins.

2) The now Believer, MUST become Baptized, this also is a conscience act.

When you were a baby did you consciously do either?

This is your Salvation, no one can stand in for you and make that decision for you.

Secondly, Baptism of an infant before they consciously Believe is a total waste of time and water.

Even if you at some later date did receive your Confirmation, this does not mean you are (were) a Believer, it only means you were only following what someone told you to do and when to do it, in order for you to fulfill the requirements of their Tradition. it was now your time to be Confirmed, into the Church.

During Baptism, the Believer Dies to the flesh, becomes alive to the Spirit, this is being Regenerated by the Holy Spirit unto Newness of life (IN) Christ.

Gal. 2:20
I am crucified with Christ: nevertheless I live; yet not I, but Christ liveth in me: and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by the faith of the Son of God, who loved me, and gave himself for me.

Rom 6:3-5
3) Know ye not, that so many of us as were baptized into Jesus Christ were baptized into his death?
4) Therefore we are buried with him by baptism into death: that like as Christ was raised up from the dead by the glory of the Father, even so we also should walk in newness of life.
5) For if we have been planted together in the likeness of his death, we shall be also in the likeness of his resurrection:

So YES by all means get Baptized, and don't look at it as being Re-Baptized.

Because this will be the first time you have ever been Baptized, you have not had the indwelling of the Holy Spirit up until you become Born Again

John 3:3
Jesus answered and said unto him, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God.

John 3:5-7
5) Jesus answered, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born of water and of the Spirit, he cannot enter into the kingdom of God.
6) That which is born of the flesh is flesh; and that which is born of the Spirit is spirit.
7) Marvel not that I said unto thee, Ye must be born again.

Hope this helps clear things up
Be Blessed in Christ

For most Christians Baptism is Baptism. Your Baptism as an infant is still Baptism. "Repent and be baptized" is not an order of events that need to be followed. You received Baptism, and as a baptized Christian growing up in the faith you are called to a life of repentance.

There's no magic formula here. God doesn't put a bunch of obstacles up, the call to baptism and repentance is not an obstacle to be overcome, it is an invitation to receive. "Come and eat with me at my house" is not a chore you have to accomplish, it's an invitation.

Baptism is the means through which we are born again, receiving new life from God, are brought into the Church and adopted as God's children. Repentance is the new sort of life we are to have as God's children. Repentance is not some one time event, it is the daily dying, taking up our cross and following Jesus. The Greek word translated as "repentance" is metanoia, it refers to a change or transformation of the mind, of one's thinking. It does involve sorrow and grief over our sins, but the larger picture is a change in our thinking and mindset.

There's a story about the ancient Jewish historian Josephus, during the Jewish Roman War Josephus encountered a Zealot (the Zealots were Jewish patriots who desired the overthrow of Rome and gain Jewish independence) and said to him, "Repent and follow me." Josephus was saying, "Come and do things my way, come and see things my way."

Christ calls us to a renewed life, transformed, shaped, and molded by Him. "The kingdom of God is at hand, repent and believe the good news" are the first words He speaks in the Gospel of Mark. This call to repent is a call of radical change, of turning from our present course and toward a new course.

St. Paul says, "Do not be conformed by the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind." Elsewhere the same apostle writes, "Have this same mind be in you that was in Christ Jesus, who though being in the form of God did not regard equality with God something to exploit, but emptied Himself taking on the form of a slave, born in human likeness. And being found in human likeness humbled Himself in obedience unto death, even death on the cross."

The way of Christ is the way of the cross, to be a people shaped and defined by Jesus and His sufferings.

The life of repentance to which we are called is not some over night thing, it is the crucified life of the disciple of Jesus Christ in this present world. Baptism brings us into that life. Therefore "Repent and be baptized" is not an order of events, it is, again, an invitation, it is Jesus saying to us, "Come and follow Me." When you received your baptism as an infant you were brought into this new life which is in Christ, and the Church made a pledge both to you and to God to see you grow in Christ, to grow and become His disciple. And that invitation, that call on you, to be His disciple still remains upon you, it's what you received in your Baptism. There's no need to get baptized again, you are already baptized. Here and now there is this: Believe the good news, you belong to Jesus, this is not of yourself, it is the gift of God freely given through faith; and as one redeemed and set free by Christ, now come and follow Jesus.

No, it is not possible to sell one's soul.

1) The soul is not a possession that one can sell or trade.

2) The Scriptures clearly say, "Your life is not your own, you were bought with a price." You belong to Jesus Christ, as you were purchased with His own spilled blood. Your baptism is God's seal and promise to you of this irrevocable truth. You are Christ's, and no power above or below can separate you from the love of God which is in Christ Jesus.

Only one baptism. You were a Christian when Catholic, Catholics are Christians and in fact that is part of this websites rules that Catholics are Christians. Any other baptism you get is just getting wet and means absolutely nothing.

I was baptised as a baby, and I don't remember it, so it wasn't of any value to me. It was just a ceremony organised by others. When I got converted to Christ, I knew I needed to be baptised as a believer to confess publicly that I now acknowledge Jesus Christ as Lord of my life, and that when I went down into the water, I identified with His death on the cross, and when I came out of the water, I identified with His resurrection.

So believers' baptism is more than just going through a ceremony. It is a heart-identification with Christ in His death, resurrection, ascension, and subsequent Lordship. A believer is certainly nailing his colours to the mast when he gets baptised.

Sort of like most of the other things God has done for you, eh?

You certainly don't understand how Grace works, how the Trinity can be, why some people receive certain gifts and others do not, how the Son of God could become a real man and atone for our sins by dying on a cross. None of that.

Oh yes, we sometimes say that we understand it because we believe these things and what they are supposed to be about, but not how it really can be. No, not that.

So if comprehending all that God does for us is your litmus test, you might as well give up Christianity altogether while you are disavowing Baptism.

I do not know why you could not be baptized again and make it your choice.

New Christians may not tap into everything that is available to them to help them experience the transformation:

I do not know of any Christian group, who believe the water itself saves you, since all believe it is God who saves and God is not limited by water.

Water baptism is not a “requirement” for salvation since God does the saving, but is something Christians get to do in order to help them and others.

I know that I needed everything God could provide to assure me of my conversion, both outwardly and mentally. God wants you to physically feel the experience of what is going on Spiritually.

Christian water baptism: This is water immersion to be a physical outward representation of what had or is happening spiritually in the person being baptized. It is mainly to help the individual being baptized to better grasp what is going on, but can “witness” to others observing the baptism. It has the elements of going down under the water (burying the old man), placing your dependence in another the person baptizing you (surrendering your life to God), being washed (having your sins washed away), rising out of the water (rising from the dead), and stepping forth out onto the earth (a new person). It is also a sign of your humility since it is a humbling act anyone can simple allow someone to do to them (so not a work) and humility is needed to accept charity (God’s free gift of undeserving forgiveness). To refuse Christian water baptism when it is readily available would probably mean you are not ready to handle responsibility like having the indwelling Holy Spirit.

It's kinda like being circumsized...again. Or becoming a virgin again because your "first time" didn't work out so well.

The wonderful thing about grace is that it's not up to me to understand it. Grace remains grace because it is grace.

If it were up to me to fully comprehend all of God's mysteries in order to believe, then there would be nothing to believe. For I am lowly, and God is infinite. But He has spoken that I may believe, He has acted and I have benefited. And yet:

"Such knowledge is too wonderful for me; it is high; I cannot attain it." - Psalm 139:6

If we believe as the Scriptures teach, that faith in Christ is God's gift, apart from ourselves, then yes. The infant is given the same faith as an adult through God's Word and Sacraments. For the infant receives the same as the adult, the adult receives the same as the infant. Grace remains grace because it is grace.

You must have a crystal ball to be able to make a judgment like that about me! :)

I don't disavow believers baptism, but I don't believe that infant baptism as something that regenerates a person. Being baptised, one has to be a believer who has received Christ as Saviour, and has made a personal choice to be baptised. An infant is neither, so baptism in that case is invalid for regeneration. An infant baptised is still a sinner on the road to hell until he or she receives Christ as Saviour, and baptism as an infant does not increase the likelihood of it.

Be careful about judging me, because you will be judged by the same measure!

1) Isn't what you say here against your Reformed Church theology?

2) Why couldn't it be that the order in which the 3 baptisms are received is irrelevant?

I guess it is possible for someone without an understanding of what Baptism actually accomplishes in the New Believers life, and merely views it as a means of becoming part of a Church Body.

Although I would not recommend a Re-Circumcision for anyone.

Baptism on the other hand is a different question all together, an Infant, Baby, or even a young child does not understand what is being done, Circumcision was bringing new born babe into the Covenant God had made with Abraham, and an honoring of that Covenant by the performing of the Circumcision.

Baptism is totally different, it isn't a physical sign of the Covenant between God and mankind that they are saved.

But it is the conscious decision of the Believer to Identify with Christ's Death and Resurrection, through the Physical process of Baptism by water.

The water signifying the Grave, where the Flesh of the Believer is buried, as was Jesus, the Resurrection of the Believer is when he comes up out of the water (Grave) having been Regenerated by the Power of God through the Holy Spirit unto Newness of Life in the Spirit, and Identifying with Christ's Resurrection.

This cannot happen for the Baby who is Baptized no matter how many people stand in for that young Babe, it's not up to them, it's up to God and His Grace to draw that Babe to Himself, in His own time.

That no doubt is a big part of this dispute.

AArrgh. My mention of circumcision was not theological.

It was simply an example of something that is considered important and cannot be re-done. Baptism is like that. It isn't like taking the bus whenever you want to go downtown.

If you are once baptized, but you aren't religious thereafter and don't care about the faith until some later time...you simply recommit yourself at that point, having already been baptized. You need both...and then you have them, regardless of the order.
