my answer is yes....

if they know there are several people asking to be baptized, sometimes they will ask you to wait until a specific week...

most of the time if someone expresses an interest to be baptized the pastor will ask "this week or next" and kinda give you a choice... they'll work with people too.. if someone wants to invite alot of people and wants to wait a few weeks they'll allow that too.

situation by situation...

I baptize them as they are ready.

And as they went on their way, they came unto a certain water: and the eunuch said, See, here is water; what doth hinder me to be baptized? And Philip said, If thou believest with all thine heart, thou mayest. And he answered and said, I believe that Jesus Christ is the Son of God. And he commanded the chariot to stand still: and they went down both into the water, both Philip and the eunuch; and he baptized him.

Waiting for a group to be ready would be a hindrance...I wouldn't want to be a hindrance to someone who is ready.

All the churches I have been to want you to wait a while before being baptised. A lot of churches also want you to go through some kind of membership class or something. Personally, I think this is a great idea. It is not a good idea to join a religion out of ignorance.

Does your church wait to baptize until there is a group of people or will they Baptize 1 as soon as someone is ready after coming to faith?

The church I grew up in will baptize whenever anyone comes forward or asks to be. The church I currently attend, I'm not sure how they do it.

I like the practice of the first!

God Bless

I cant help but think of the eunuch in Acts 8 who just comes to faith. He asks Phillip about it and Phillip tells him trust in God. He is immediatly baptized in the river and then Phillip dissapears.

No training other than putting his faith in the gospel.

I think we should baptize asap after salvation.

But new believers need some kind of instruction in the faith. It would be a bad thing for someone to get baptised and then realize that they are not meant to be a Christian or that whatever particular denomination is not right for them but all of a sudden they are a member of a particular church or denomination. That is why I am generally against baptising as soon as they 'convert'. Besides, just because the apostles did it a certain way doesn't mean that this method is right in all cases or even any cases.

but everyone should be a christian, better they become christian and then think that they don't want to be one but still be one ather than just walk away, i think that people should be baptised asap.

Fair enough. But I think it's best to make an informed decision. It would be quite embarrassing for me at least if I converted to Christianity (I am a Christian but I mean baptism) and then decided that Christianity wasn't for me. I could just imagine the reactions I'd get.

well one time there has been 2 people being baptised which included me but they would have done it with just 1 person being done

however i have seen 8 people being done before which was really cool

before baptism you have to make sure its 110% the right thing to do no one should just rush into it

That's what we do. I'm one of the guys who teach the "New Believers Class".

It's not that we're opposed to dunking somebody right away, but we believe that it's a good idea to be grounded in the basics of Christian doctrine first.

There are typically four to five classes in the series. Four on doctrine and one on baptist history.

The other reason we wait is that, not only is this the baptizee's testimony, it's a celebration for the church and we want to be there to celebrate with them.
