Hi Everyone,

I am studying several things in my Bible and have soooooooo many hundreds and kazillions of questions!

One of them is baptism, I know some believe in being baptized in Jesus' name

Here is examples...

Say someone is being baptized, is the proper way to be baptized by a pastor saying "I baptize you in the name of the Father, The Son and The Holy Ghost"

Or "I baptize you in the name Of Jesus Christ"

Matthew 28:19 Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost:

It was pointed out to me that in the Matthew 28:19 verse it says in the NAME of, not plural, one name not 3...

I was then pointed to Acts 2:38 ...

Then Peter said unto them, Repent, and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins, and ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost.

If what ive studied so far, and asking guidance from God through all of my studies, shows that we should in fact be baptized in the name of Jesus Christ...then would that mean someone who isnt baptized in the name of Jesus Christ isnt baptized correctly? I was told being baptized the other way is in titles...like someone can be a sister, mother, aunt, cousin and friend but that person has one name.

Sorry if this has been posted before...and sorry if it is in the wrong place.
I was trying to talk to someone on a messenger about it and they seemed to get upset with my question....I have no idea why  ... but anyways any replies are much appreciated!!

edited to say...I no longer seek the answer to this question (thanks to a very wise person and you know who you are ;)). I have been looking for my own understanding of things instead of trusting in the One who IS my understanding...His name is JESUS.

Right here, you immediately made a wrong assumption. You suggest that water baptism has something to do with the baptizer required to speak. "in the name of" does not mean "words . . . spoken over them", if you think it does mean "words . . . spoken over them", I'll be glad to discuss with you the complications of that flawed idea.

And YOU have immediately made a wrong assumption, friend. What I seek is insight to a question. First you should better understand the meaning of words before using them, and second any other replies you decide to make on this post, i will not read.

If I am asking questions about something, then PLEASE explain how can it be that I have made an assumption?? I am asking because I do not know...come down off your all knowing high horse and talk to me like an adult...otherwise your "opinion" will mean nothing to me.

Just something I want to clarify too with this,

We (my husband, myself and our 4 children) are searching for a home church. We left the church we were attending because of several reasons. In searching we have discovered so very many different types of churches most claiming that church is the right one. Please don't bash me for asking the question above....I am not trying to start a debate or an arguement. I only am looking for insight on this. Someone told me that if I am baptized in any way other than the name of Jesus Christ it is null and void because it is done in titles only.

So I ask please please in all sincerity (sp?) for non judgemental non insulting answers.
