Sarah,
You said you studied the Amazing Facts course, and yet you said you do not know much about the bible. I don't see how that's possible. The AF studies are GREAT! Unless you didn't really follow the course. What are your questions? I don't see you ask questions or participate in bible discussions.
Yes, it really is great.
As for bible discussions and such..the reason is more of a time constriction than anything there. Especially being a mod now, which sort of came at the same time as things picked up offline. I always have some discussion going with someone, though..and have covered probably a hundred or more questions with a very devoted SDA in the past.
About your take on EGW and the baptism, I can't say I'm offended, but I'm definitely taken back by it. You can't go by what's been said here. If you have not read any of her writing, you are not in the position to judge.
I wanna be clear on something, I've read very little in the way of the critisism of EGW from here or any other source.
I have read some of her writings, parts of Desire, Controvery, and all of Steps. I've also heard a fair amount of positive stuff in regards to her, as well as quite a few studies with a good friend on her and why she is believed to be a prophet. Again, it all really comes down to personal understanding at this point, though. When I know my whole Bible I can better judge her writings.
(There is a background to why I have issues trusting her also, but I think God's helping me to keep that out of things more now)
Lastly, Jesus said except a man be born of water and of the spirit, he can not enter into the kingdom of God.
True, but is it not that ones heart is circumsized that matters the most? What is inside, the intention?
If you have issues that you can not be baptised by the adventist church, you might have to start looking for another church. I'm sorry that I have to say this to you, but this is the truth.
Feel free to reply to this post or PM me. God bless!
Hey, if someone can point me to a church that doesn't ask for anything beyond accepting Christ and wanting to follow God in the baptism vows, I'm in.
