• Starting today August 7th, 2024, in order to post in the Married Couples, Courting Couples, or Singles forums, you will not be allowed to post if you have your Marital status designated as private. Announcements will be made in the respective forums as well but please note that if yours is currently listed as Private, you will need to submit a ticket in the Support Area to have yours changed.

  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

I was recently banned for life from a Christian website, for no particular reason other than making reference to a particular boypart and implying that the poster was allot like that. However, fundamentalists on that site are allowed to utilize every derogatory name known in reference to homosexuals and others they see as evil and vile. Can anyone tell me why the double-standard? BTW, the site is www.theologyonline.com. My user name is kalel29 and password is preeti if you would like to see the infractions.

I was banned from a site (not the same one) for disagreeing with someone's general statements regarding people who send their children to public school... to me its kind of funny... and pathetic... oh I should say when I asked to be allowed back on the forum the owner asked me to explain how God had been working in my life since I was off the forum... or I could be allowed back on... I had to laugh... was I supposed to say God had made realize that homeschooling was the only acceptable method of educating a child? I declined to answer to the lunatic and wiped the sand from my feet and moved on...

Man I wonder how many of us are here because of fstdt?

This is by far the best Christian forum on the web that I have seen. I lurk before I join and post and found a lot of other religious sites to be alienating even within their own faith. It was more like a group within a group. Lots of good folks from all walks of life and all faiths here. Sure there are plenty of internet fights but by and large this is a very good group of folks all around.

True.

Before I joined here, I thought that Christian Forums was filled with the kind of people you see quoted on FSTDT. After being here for a while, I realized that most members here are good people.

That having been said, this place isn't so bad. I suppose I've grown fond of it. :D

I think it is sad when Christians forget that those who are not believers are supposed to be able to find guidance and an example of good living in them. To me, the fact that Christ lives in me does not give me license to go about sending those who are different to the gates of hell. I believe Christ loved people, respected people, and that brought them closer to Him. We should do the same.

Anyway, it is a good lesson for us all, to fine tune our outreach muscles. And I am sorry if these other places made you frustrated or disrespected you.

I was beanieboy, a target for years as well.
They used some of the most foul language I have seen come out of anyone, let alone a Christian, and claimed to do it in the name of Jesus.

As a Buddhist, I learned to be thankful in all things, that your worst enemy is your best teacher.

I had to play by their rules. What did I learn?
To return curse with blessing, to not respond in anger, to think twice not just about what I said, but about what I thought, to be thankful even when I was attacked, to show mercy and compassion, and to see the harm in others that makes them lash out, and grant forgiveness.

I had to search the bible for support, and gained better knowledge of the bible, and saw how they used but more often misued it. (Romans 9:12: Let your love be without hypocracy; cling to what is good, abhor what is evil - used as a call to "abhor" nonbelievers) Ringing any bells?

It's a blessing. Be thankful for it, brush it off, and be thankful that you are unscathed. You were probably an instrument of God trying to get to their hearts, for all you know.

Namaste

Christian websites tend to be very insular and EXTREMELY hostile to outsiders. I've done an audit for personal curiosity of over fifty Christian websites and chats and I was run out of every single one, the quickest one was five minutes after logging on.

I went in under four different guises, one as myself, two as an atheist, three as a Christian who was having doubts about his faith, and four as just a regular Christian. I only responded to questions put to me and didnt make any attempt to rile anyone or cause any problems and yet I was still kicked out. Most were run by moderators who treated their job like it was a holy comandment from God and that Stasi tactics were acceptible as long as it got rid of the different ones. In most places I was forbidden to preach (Which I understand) or even to TALK about my faith.

CF is really the only place where non-Christians can interract with Christians online and not be totally handcuffed. One reason that I think its so important that CF be preserved and that Non-Christians be given a piece of the decision making process, because everywhere else is going to treat you worse.

My advice, stay out of Christian chats anywhere else on the net

Lotsa atheists and non-christians seem to stir up the pot alot in christian type forums. Insulting faith, saying their stupid, criticizing creationism, etc..

Also they promote many things that are against the bible, like pro-homosexual theology and paganism, making people doubt their faith, supporting abortion..

Why would someone come onto a christian forum in the first place and stir up the pot about non-christian ideas?? Sounds likes someone wants to be heard..

Some do, but that doesnt mean all do.

Open discussion makes people question their faith?

This is exactly the kind of attitude that I found on most of the forums/chats I went to, the "non-Christians are the enemy" mentality.

On the website I was banned from, it was the complete opposite. The Christians on that site were constantly throwing insults.

Are you blaming non-Christians for a Christian wavering in their faith, while the Bible claims all were endowed with free will? We don't promote pro-homosexual theology, but rather homosexuals not be persecuted by Christians. Those on that website advocate the execution of a homosexual.

Sounds like we want to hear different talking points, and it's sort of a hobby to debate. Why would you not want to know what non-Christians feel about the issues, that way you can present your counter-points and maybe "convert" some of them?

Thats fine. But just don't complain about it if you get banned. Its like going to Saudia Arabia and insulting Islam and saying "what went wrong, I was just voicing my opinion".. You pretty much know what your going to expect before you even set foot in the place..I think this OP just wants to use this opprotunity to complain about the "narrowminded" Christians

"It is inevitable that stumbling blocks come, but woe to him through whom they come! - Luke 17:1

1 Timothy 4:1 But the Spirit explicitly says that in later times some will fall away from the faith, paying attention to deceitful spirits and doctrines of demons,

"Woe to you who make your neighbors drink, Who mix in your venom even to make them drunk So as to look on their nakedness! - Habakkuk 2:15

The bible is also very clear on people who help cause others to fall. To the point that their blood may fully be on their shoulders..

In other words, non-Christians should have no rights to voice their opinions in a Christian forum without persecution? Very nice indeed.

I think I shall... be naughty and post boobies on their pages.

Yes. A huge, huge picture of boobies which will take ages to load and make their computers freeze as they frantically try to report it.

Or in the words of Arthur C. Clarke:

A faith that connot survive collision with the truth is not worth many regrets.

I agree. The ability to question God and continue to believe in Him takes much more faith than blind adherence.

In general, the site had people that made you think, "Wow, the last time I saw someone this one-fry-short-of-a-happy-meal was on Jerry Springer. Are these people for real?"
I didn't know that much anger could fit inside one person claiming on one side of their mouth to serve the God of Love, and on the other side, excited about the destruction of sinners. (One once quoted Psalms, and said that on Judgement she would bathe in my blood. Um, ok Carrie.)

When I get in to, um, should I even call them debates, because in a debate, you general have to listen and communicate, it's seems futile.

It's one thing to speak, have a response, think about it, counter, etc, even if you agree to disagree.
"Nah-uh!" is more like talking to your 5 year old.
