Two of my friends (Jeremy and his wife Jennefer) recently started a business. They underestimated how much capital they would need to keep the business going until they turned a profit. They are facing bankruptcy if they do not find an investor very soon.
The business is a cash advance / payday loan business. I know people have mixed feelings about these types of businesses, as did I. However, talking with Jennefer last week, she said that it was like God just put everything into place for them to be able to get started. They have also actually been able to help people in need of some cash when they cannot get a loan from a bank or anyone else. No, it's not a charity organization, but they have wanted to start a business for some time now and this seemed like a really good start for them.
My prayer is not without personal concern as well. I was one of their investors in the company. If they go bankrupt, I will be out a little money, but nothing I cannot make up in a few months of work. However, they will lose their house, their credit cards, everything they have worked for up to this point, and they will have to start over. Jeremy is 34, Jennefer is 26, so they're young enough that bankruptcy and starting over will not be as bad as for someone that is in their 50's. But going bankrupt is not on anyone's wish list I'm sure.
I've been praying and praying that someone will invest, but they have not found someone that can commit yet. If they do not find someone by the end of the week, it is all probably over for them. My prayer is that someone can commit with an investment and the business can continue until it supports itself.
Maybe that is not God's will. If it is not, then I missed what His will is when I decided to invest in the first place. If I hadn't invested, then they wouldnt' be here now in the business on the verge of bankruptcy. My thoughts and emotions are in a bit of turmoil over all of this. I know money is far from the most important thing in life, but it's a necessary thing to get by in the world we live in. If they go bankrupt, I know how bad I feel and will feel for them; I cannot imagine the burden they will be under.
I have helped them financially as much as I am able up to this point. All I can do now is pray. Your thoughts and prayers are very welcome through all of this.
