Should Christmas be banned. It used to be banned and huge fines were issued for celebrating. Christmas just a couple of hundred years ago...
These darn Pagans are taking over everything... they must be stopped!
Ban Christmas!
Though I suspect you are being tongue-in-cheek, I'll bite. *smile*

If we're gonna ban Christmas because someone else uses it to worship someone other than Jesus (pagan gods, the "holiday spirit", Santa, commercialism), then we might as well ban rainbows. Their symbolism has been co-opted by a perverse few - but that doesn't diminish the significance and glory of a real one in the sky to the true believer.

God has the last word in all things anyways.

Christians know what Christmas, Easter and Thanksgiving mean to us - and declare as much. It is enough, isn't it?

And btw... I am proudly gay! I'm joyful all the time! *wink*

Well the Christians who celebrate Christmas, do not even have the correct understanding that they are not celebrating Jesus' birthday, but are actually celebrating a birth date. Dec 25 is a date and not a day. A day would be Sunday, Monday Tuesday, etc....Saturday.

Ban Christmas!

Being "banned" by Puritan Christians in the 16th and 17th centuries isn't the same as making a declarative statement that all Christians everywhere can or should recognize and just jump on board with.

You say you are proudly gay, and then you say rainbow symbolism is taken over by a perverse few... am I missing something here?

I'm happy to see pride rainbows about the place, but let's not forget it's Christian meaning... God's genocidal murder of most of the life on this planet (oops, I meant to say God's love )

Ban Christmas!
It is a part of the normalization of Christianity in the culture. Nobody really thinks that Dec 25 is actually the birth date of Jesus. It really does not matter. It is an expression of thanksgiving to God for the coming of our savior. It is something that is in our hearts, and so banning it is useless. I recall the story where the Grinch tried to stop Christmas from coming. Utter failure. Our families have celebrated this for hundreds of years. It will not go away any time soon. Merry Christmas to all, and a Happy New Year full of God's love and blessings!

Who would ever even try to stop the ones controlling "everything" in the world we live in ?
(btw, they're not followers of Jesus)

I mean 'gay' as in how the word was originally defined - that is how I apply it to myself. From Wikipedia:

"The word gay arrived in English during the 12th century from Old French gai, most likely deriving ultimately from a Germanic source.

In English, the word's primary meaning was "joyful", "carefree", "bright and showy", and the word was very commonly used with this meaning in speech and literature. For example, the optimistic 1890s are still often referred to as the Gay Nineties. The title of the 1938 French ballet Gaîté Parisienne ("Parisian Gaiety"), which became the 1941 Warner Brothers movie, The Gay Parisian,[10] also illustrates this connotation."

A beautiful example: "don we now our gay apparel." Appropriate to the season, eh what?

? Pride is a deadly sin. It can keep a soul from heaven - pride goes before (leads to) destruction
Oh come on, Aaron, do you really think I meant sinful pride? I was using a play on words... in opposition to 'gay pride' I claim, partially tongue in cheek, the right to be 'proudly gay' as Scripture defines it - rejoicing in the Lord! Ya know, the joy of the Holy Spirit!

The Word is going to win the war of words - and will have the last Word! Amen?

But that is just how the English language works. Most of us talk about birthdays, and we mean celebrating the day which is given the date when somebody was born. Birthday cards tend to say, "Happy Birthday," not "Happy Birth Date." "Day" in English doesn't have to mean a particular day of the week - we say things like "the third day of February."

As far as the Incarnation is concerned, we don't know the date, and many people doubt that it was in December at all. Let us praise God for the coming into the world of our glorious Saviour, even though we don't know the date He did so.

I like to use a word and what the actual word is saying and means. So i wish people happy birth date unless their birth date falls on their actual birthday.

Ban Christmas!

The origins of Christmas are thoroughly Christian, even the "fluffy" parts of modern Western Christmas, like Christmas trees and Santa Claus are innately Christian in origin.

So there's no reason to even mention Pagans when talking about Christmas. The myth of the "pagan origins" of Christmas has absolutely zero merit. It's just a modern fable, just like the fable that Columbus wanted to sail west from Europe to prove the earth was round because everyone in Europe that it was flat.

With that out of the way. Let's talk about Pagans. I have absolutely no interest in banning Pagans or banning Pagans from practicing their religions or ban Pagans from celebrating their own festivals, special occasions, and observances.

I believe in the right of all human beings to believe or not believe, and practice or not practice, whatever religion they want (or no religion at all) without any compulsion from the government. As a citizen of the United States of America I strongly support my country's constitution's guarantee of the fundamental freedom and right of human beings to their freedom of religion, their freedom of speech, their freedom of assembly, and their freedom of the press. No legislative body has the right to infringe on these fundamental rights of human persons.
