I'm only 24, but my hair is already starting to thin out on the top of my head. When I first noticed it, I was deeply disturbed. My initial reaction was denial. However, I've gradually come to accept the fact that I'm balding.

Anyone else in their 20s going through this? There are a few options I'm considering to regrow what I've lost (or at least stop its progression), but I'm not too worried anymore. It's just part of life.

I'm 25 and my hair is receeding/thinning and it's got me worried seeing as i'm single still and don't want my looks to fade to make things harder. I've seen a few suppliments and things you can take but they have side effects. They lower your testosterone levels and it affects other things such as sperm count I think.

It also says in the bible to not shave the sides of your head (paraphrasing) which worries me if i'm going to have patches of hair and not be able to shave them.
I think some women don't mind bald men if you find comfort in that. Maybe its worth thinking about scalp care or not using hair wax etc.

FWIW, I've known plenty of men who started balding in their 20's and even earlier. I couldn't care less about a guy going bald. Big whoopty doo.

But that's just me I say leave your head alone. If it starts to look shabby, just get a buzz; that usually hides your balding status pretty well.

That refers to those long hair strands you see on certain Jews, if you're talking about what I think you're talking about. The Peyot, it's called. That's the sideburn area, that's for Jews, and not even all Jews follow that today. We're set free from this part of the Law in Christ, according to Acts 15.

Yep. I'm balding.

I knew it was coming. I grew my hair shoulder length twice just so I could "enjoy" the hair while I had it.

It was a really bad idea. I was hoping to look like Heath Ledger... I didn't come close. I looked more like Mary Tyler Moore.

I'm fairly certain that I will just go clean shaven within the next year. I think it is best to be practical about these kinds of things. I'm sure their are more to your "looks" than your hair.

My hair started thinning when I was 17. It started so early because of the stress I was going through at the time. I would've gone bald anyway, but it probably would've waited until I was in my 30s. It didn't.

All through my early 20s, people always guessed I was close to or over 30. In fact, the oldest guess I got was when this lady asked a friend of mine (he was 21) if I was his dad! Funny thing is that now that I'm 25, I've lost weight and have been eating healthier, so even though I'm balder, people don't guess I'm as old as they used to.

All that having been said, it has actually never seriously bothered me that I was losing my hair at such a young age. And the older I get, the less I care, because I'm older anyways! I just shave my head (or at least use the clippers w/o adjuster thingy), and take the jokes in stride. It is, after all, the neverending joke.

My hair started thinning when I was 19 or 20 although I did not realize it was happening until I was around 22. Sometimes I feel ok with my hair like that and sometimes I don't, but I've never covered it up (I don't like hats most of the time anyway) and I would never shave my head (well having my hair an inch or two long is ok )

the hair disappears slowly enough that I won't look like Homer Simpson for a long time

While I was getting my hair cut yesterday, a young woman in the background (who was waiting for a friend) was checking me out in the mirror the whole time. She smiled at me, and I smiled back. Then, I realized that she had full view of the balding spot on the back of my head. How embarrassing! Silly I know, but usually I have the benefit of being taller than 99% of women, putting the top of my head out of view. So I discovered that I am quite self-conscious about it. The question is, how do I get over it?

I had a friend in college that was going bald younger then you are.

He just got married recently.

I have to say that even though I can say that to you, I think if it started to happen to me I would freak. I don't think I would look good bald.

honestly two guys i used to have crushes on were guys that were going bald(one started when he was in his teens and the other when he was in his early twenties) yet for my money i still thought they were among the most handsome guys i'd seen.

its really not something to worry about
