Girls wouldn't flip out over it if guys didn't care about it :)
Whilst guy's opinions definitely do have something to do with it I'm not sure that's the only reason. The menopause coupled with women's desire to breed might be a factor, as might fear of death or decrepitude. The media is successfully indoctrinating most women to hate the effects of age.

My hair started going about 4 or 5 years ago. I figured I didn't want to be hanging on to scraps or doing bizarre comb overs so I've been shaving it short for the past couple years. Haven't gone for the complete bald, but I'm considering it.

A guy from church once told me shaving his head bald was the best day of his life, which made me wonder where his wedding day and the birth of his kids ranked.

While I was getting my hair cut yesterday, a young woman in the background (who was waiting for a friend) was checking me out in the mirror the whole time. She smiled at me, and I smiled back. Then, I realized that she had full view of the balding spot on the back of my head. How embarrassing! Silly I know, but usually I have the benefit of being taller than 99% of women, putting the top of my head out of view. So I discovered that I am quite self-conscious about it. The question is, how do I get over it?

Seriously man, they don't care. In fact, sometimes I think they admire the confidence in a man who is obviously going bald but doesn't care. ^_^

I'm pretty sure that if the lady-folk are worrying that much about their hair/appearance, then they don't want a man who does the same.

Trust me. It's not menopause and decrepitude.

It never fails to amuse me when a man tries to speak for womankind, lol. That's like me sitting here telling you why men think a certain way. How the heck would I know? I'm not a man.

I can't say I like bald BETTER than a head full of hair. I LOVE it when a man has thick, healthy, yummy hair that I can plunge my fingers into. Does that mean I'd want my balding b/f or husband to fret over his state? No. Just buzz it off, honey.

I'm a FEMALE who started to experience thinning hair around age 23. It's stayed that way. I honestly don't mind a man without hair. As a female though...it's a scary thing. I don't know too many men who think bald women are hot. I had it cut pretty short for a long time and one day I realized that look was NOT flattering on me. I think with my short/stocky stature, I made the look of the stereotypical lesbian. So now I have medium length hair but it doesn't really do much. ;(
