  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Today I drove home from church and saw a dirty stream of water from a rain storm running down the road. In this stream was a Black Bird having a bath, and totally enjoying it. Lesson for me was "ALL THINGS WORK TOGETHER FOR GOOD TO THOSE WHO LOVE GOD how? We have rain storms in our life, but if we love God He can turn the muddiest stream of misery into something good for us and Him,. Over the last few weeks, the Lord has used 3 situations of sadness to some of the greatest blessings in my spirtual life.
What I saw a s amuddy stream was a great blessing to a Black Bird.
May He turn and use some of your darkest times for great blessings:D ;)

Something bad can workout something good because the Lord wants us to grow in character as well as Christ-like. I worked at a bad job and was terminated but also I felt that I needed to grow in Christ more.

Thank you for those words of wisdom. They were just what I needed right now. God's got our backs, so to speak.

God does and always will have our backs my friend regardless of what happens to us.

Good thread.

Ephesians 5:20 tells to give thanks in ALL things. That's hard to do in some things but we are still commanded to do so. We never know how much we need God until we have gone through stinky times in our lives.

[BIBLE]Ephesians 5:20[/BIBLE]

[BIBLE]1 Thessalonians 5:18[/BIBLE]

Too many people ask God the wrong question. We ask "Why?" instead of "God, What am I suppose to be learning from this? How can this help me in my walk with you and how do I use this to minister to others?"
Good and bad things happen to help shape us to the person we need to be.

[BIBLE]Genesis 50:20[/BIBLE]
[BIBLE]Romans 5:4[/BIBLE]
[BIBLE]Philippians 1:12[/BIBLE]

It's hard to understand what someone is going through unless you have experienced a similiar situation yourself. God can use those stinky times in our lives to help us grow closer to him and also use it to minister to others when they are hurting.

[BIBLE]Proverbs 27:17[/BIBLE]

Things in life can make us "bitter" or "better" and the difference in those 2 words is the letter *I*. I can get bitter or better. We can choose how we react to things that are either made from our choices or from things that happened that are beyond our control.

[BIBLE]1 Thessalonians 5:11[/BIBLE]
[BIBLE]2 Corinthians 1:5-6[/BIBLE]

I agree with you, John. It is possible that God may bless even the most trivial disappointment. Shortly after I came to faith, I fell in love with a girl from church who was my best friend. Even though she didn't feel the same way, we had a great friendship and I know the feelings that He gave me helped to transform and heal me in tremendous ways :)
