Bad or incomplete Endings (Spoilers!!)

This seems to be brought up quite a bit with different anime so I thought I’d have a place for those who want to share their frustrations on anime endings.

The one that comes to mind is Kenshin, the TV Series. It is a great anime and one of my favorites. Though, I don’t know about the ending. I liked that him and Kaoru finally exchanged affections officially, but there were some loose ends. I wanted to see more of Saito, such as Sanosuke finding out he was still alive. Also I wanted more on Soijiro, he just kind of wandered off and was out of the tale, they should have had him meet up with Kenshin again or something to show he is now living to be a sward that protects like Kenshin. And the girl who was a piret that kenshin helped, she was going to sail on the ocean and someday meet up with him. I was waiting to see her again. I think there were too many lose ends not tied up, but I guess that can be left up to our imagination.

A few years ago I read a manga series called WISH. It had only 4 volumes but was good none the less, until the last one. 4th volume :slice: end. Done. No more. It sucked! I really liked it, but it left us fans with a thousand and one questions about what happens next!! Anyone else read WISH?

I have the first volume, translated into English. Since, sadly, I cannot read Japanese, and I doubt I'll be able to any time soon. Very cute series. I found the "optional shonen ai" part quite amusing. (If you didn't know, the gender of the angels in the oringinal language is never specified.. you could even go so far as to say they're genderless... some fans consider them girls, some fans consider them boys.) But knowing the genre that CLAMP sometimes does, I wouldn't be surprised to find out it was shonen ai. *laughs* If you liked Wish, you might also want to check out Magic Knight Rayearth, X, Tokyo Babylon, Clover, and Angelic Layer among others done by them. Chobits is supposedly a big hit right now.. never got into it though... Another thing to consider is.. if you’re like me and dislike angst.. better steer clear of X…. Did not like the movie at all.. *grumbles*

Oh, Nadesco disappointed me, along with Basara, but at least they left Basara open, that and the manga is over here now. Berserk left me very confused, but that's another "read the manga" one. Maccross 7 had the best ending if I remembered correctly, but it was really, um, overpowered.

I dont like the VERY END, of neon genisis evangelion, the very end was just left you so wanting.

Another one would be the Guyver. Not that it had a bad ending, but it left way too much open, as if they planned to do more but never did. I want to know more about the aliens, sadly the live action Movie covered more on the aliens than the anime did.

Yeah a Wish fan!! I'm not alone! You seem to know a lot more about this series then I do so I have a question for you. Do the names of the characters (the spelling of them mostly) change from translation to translation? I was looking for pictures of Koryu the other day, for a project i had to do in drawing. I hardly found any until I found and altrnate spelling of his/her/its (lol) name: Kouryuu. Just wondering.

I have read Magic Knights and love that one as well. CLAMP seems to be in my top 10 when it comes to manga's! Chobits I didn't care much for and Clover I really want to read it suppose to be SO good. Have you read Clamp School Detectives? I can't get over how stupidly hilarious that series are! The concept is pretty odd as well, if you were to ask me!

Yep, know what you mean. I think it's because when the original books are written in Japanese ( Katakana, Hiragana, or Kanji... not sure which), a lot of words can have more than one English counterpart, like with any language. Then you even get into Chinese or Korean translated books, which makes it even _more_ confusing. LOL.

Yeah, I notice that a lot with series. For example if you look at the Korean manga, Diary of a Demon King, which is currently being translated by Tokyopop, you'd see that the names are slightly changed. [font=Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif]Rinep was changed to Raneaf, Eklipt was changed to Eclipse, [/font][font=Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif]Kiris was changed to Chris and [/font][font=Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif]Ertis was changed to[/font] Erutis. So yeah.. ; lol

X___X;; Oh, another side note, did you know there's an anime series for Wish too??? I just found that out recently! It's probably one of those 10 episode "go read the manga now" ones though. Hahaha... no actually, I haven't gotten that one yet. I'm poor and have no job, so I have no money at the moment. And any money that I happen to come by goes towards my Fake and Demon Diary fund. lol. Which soon will be expanded to include Get Backers. *needs a job*

What genre do you like the best? I'm mostly big on boys love, comedy, and fluff. Hate angst though. X_X lol.

I've read Fake, or whats out so far. Its not bad. Not one of the genera's I would usually read but I have a "finish what you started" complex so I guess I have to finish them! lol! My friends that have read Fake say that i remind them of Ryo. They think I have no clue about thing (concerning relationship, dating, love ect.) and would fall for the dumb hand trick Dee played on Ryo in either the 3 or the 4 vol....I'm not sure I agree with them though. out:

dbz, The series was supposed to end there but instead they decided that they would keep going because its a giant marketing ploy. GT has no relation to akira toriama. GRRR!

Another bad ending would be Full Metal Panic (good series though). They had so many things to wrap up that they just left hanging... Then they made FMP Fumoffo which was really funny but didn't have anthing to do with the actual story line from the first series. Wonder if they'll make a third season?

Sadly, a lot of anime girls tend to annoy me. The only ones I really grew to enjoy were Blue from Wolf's Rain and Faye from Bebop. And the girls from BSSM... but that was my first anime, so it's sort of immune to my criticism. lol. If I had just seen it today, I'm sure I'd probably only like Usagi, Haruka, and Rei.

Hate fanservice? Try watching Sorcerer Hunters just for Gateau and Marron. *sigh* Half the time the screen was filled with cleavage shots from Chocolate. X_X

Woot! Another Fake fan! Awww, I love Fake, and that's from a chick who usually falls for the fantasy stuff, like Demon Diary. LOL. Hah, have you read that one? Hilarious. Absolutely hilarious. Fake is pretty funny too though, especially the interaction between Dee and Bickey. Poor Dee, he never gets anywhere with Ryo because of that. lol. What trick are you talking about? The one where Dee went "lookit here" or something and waved his hand above his head and then kissed Ryo? Yeah, that was pretty bad for Ryo, who's like 20 something, to still fall for something like that. ;; Oh well.. that's Ryo I guess. *laughs*

Yeah, I love sappy junk, but I'm only into boys love sap. Het sap bores me for some reason. I guess cause I see it all the time in manga. Luckily Tokyopop's starting to cater to SH-ai fangirls' needs now too though. LOL. I'm also a huge fan of comedy, almost as much as romance, but I stress the word "almost". lol. Never read Vampire Game... hm.. will check that out. I'm like you though, but I need at least 3 or 4 cute guys to watch, and preferably not too many annoying whiny girls. As for the original topic, I think the worst ending I have personally ever seen was the ending to Big O, where Paradigm City basically started over again. . .even knowing a little more about why that ending happened the way it did, IMHO it still didn't do justice to the series.

My other choice for a bad ending is a love/hate ending. If you love 1xR, you probably loved that part of the ending to Endless Waltz. . .where Heero either faints or dies (depending on your interpretative choice) in Relena's arms. If, however, you think Relena is a whiny, obsessive psycho stalker, that makes the already sad ending all the more sad. It should have been Duo

Yes, throw all tomatoes, garbage, stray rocks, and anything else at me now. I will catch it, set it aside in a pile, and use it to build a house and sell said house for some money-people will buy anything labeled as a house here in California. As for flames, they keep me warm.

Flames? Garbage? Wait till I post my opinion of Eva (someday when I'm feeling particularly fireproof).

Everyone seems to dislike Chobits here. To be honest, after the first half of the series it becomes much more serious and begins to contemplate how 'human' a machine can be, and the nature of the relationship between man and machine. If you have already watched the whole thing, I'll give you your opinion. If you stopped cause of the fanservice, you might want to give the rest of it a shot.

As far as a horrible ending goes, Kare Kano (His and Her Circumstances). I liked it up until it ended. It tied nothing up at all. It was one of the worst endings I have ever seen, especially for such a good anime.
