• Starting today August 7th, 2024, in order to post in the Married Couples, Courting Couples, or Singles forums, you will not be allowed to post if you have your Marital status designated as private. Announcements will be made in the respective forums as well but please note that if yours is currently listed as Private, you will need to submit a ticket in the Support Area to have yours changed.

 • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

David, true enough, but every time we discover an fossil, that means that we double the number of gaps:

This is informally known as Gish's Law.

G=T-1

Where G is the number of gaps and T is the number of transitionals when there are two or more.

This equation has the counter-intuitive result of producing the most doubt when every single step in a transition is found.

Well, now that thread is not only derailed, but has plunged down the embankment and exploded in flames in the river, I thought I would hop on the wreakage.

How does he know what adults think? What an entirely odd question to ask in the light of his statement. Are you doubting that adults believe in things that are not true... that they sometimes consider fantasy to be reality? That christians just might be part of that?

If this is indeed your point here, may I also point out that you believe the very same thing, about other adults. For hundreds of years very serious, well educated adults believed that the Greco/Roman pantheon of gods was absolute reality, to the point of life and death. Would YOU not consider that these adults were living in a fairy tale? And what about today? What do you think of mormons? Do you believe that Smith actually had a meeting with the angel moron (oops, moroni, I keep forgetting)? Or do you think this to be fantasy? Do YOU think mormons are living in a fairly tale?

For sure, all religious beliefs can not be true, so that would mean most are false. We could describe those people as believing in a fantasy. That, perhaps, they need to "wake up".

So to refer to most adults as believing in fairy tales(or wanting to believe in a fairy tale) would be a perfect description of the situation. One that you would agree with, if you didn't happen to be in the particular target of reference.

And another thing... it seems to me that as a teenager, he is owning you when it comes to reasoning, so I would be careful about your statements.

Lastly, as an atheist hunter, you seem to be ill equipped for your expedition. The game you seek are formidable.
LOL. I love how you atheists are so quick to declare victory and pat each other on the back. And you're the ones who are intellectually honest?

Agreeing with someone is not inherently dishonest. For your statement to have any value, you would need to show that what I have written is poor reasoning or innaccurate.

Yet you don't do that. Why? My statement is based on your inability to respond, and indeed you have not responded. If there is any intellectual dishonesty going on here, its all you, baby.

Inability to respond? To what? To what I've already responded to fully? I suggest you read the entirety of the thread. You'd then realize the questions in your post have been fully answered/ Probably too much to ask though. You much prefer a glib post that other glib posters will agree with. I gotta say, as the custudians of reason you are sorely dissapointing me. You in particular, by virtue of your age. Most non-YECs here have several years to go before they hit their twenties. Their ignorant arrogance is to be expected. What happened to you, I don't know. With age came neither knowledge or wisdom. Rather a shame really. But don't worry, whatever response you make you're 18 and 17 year old friends will declare you the victor. You're the man.

Is that what they told you?

And you know what adults think, how?

He must have been talking about other adults, since he is not an adult.

Why yes, yes I do

Apology accepted.

Atheuz made a point that I should debate like an adult, you say?

This is the point I'm supposed to debate? Sorry, but he is the one who poured derision all over Christians. If anything my response was quite measured.

Wow, life advice from a teenager. I'll give it all the consideration it merits. :)

Atheuz fired the first shot. Since you seem willfully blind to that fact you go right on ahead and believe what you will.

It is kinds funny, though, calling me rude when collectively the Atheists in this forum heap scorn and mocking on creationists and our beliefs. Pot meet kettle.

LOL. I love how you atheists are so quick to declare victory and pat each other on the back. And you're the ones who are intellectually honest?

Above is your entire contribution to this thread. I post it without comment, just for the record, and for others to decide who is pulling a chain.
