  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

So I'm currently in the U.S. Navy but am back at university (as they say in Europe) working on whether comes after a Masters Degree but it's not a PhD. They won't pay for that and it's not two more years. Anyway. What ever happened to the good old days when the first week was getting books, learning names, finding out where the classes are, and if anyone likes you / who the cute people are. I go for my first class ( it was January) and we get the professors name and expectations (5 min) then have a 10,000 word paper assignment for next week! One of a total of five. Finishing 5th one this weekend. Why isn't this like I was taught? Revenge of the Nerds and Rodney Dangerfeild (Back to School) lied to me? Where are the food fights and beer bong parties?

I don't like how things have changed since the 80s.
