• The General Mental Health Forum is now a Read Only Forum. As we had two large areas making it difficult for many to find, we decided to combine the Mental Health & the Recovery sections of the forum into Mental Health & Recovery as a whole. Physical Health still remains as it's own area within the entire Recovery area.

If you are having struggles, need support in a particular area that you aren't finding a specific recovery area forum, you may find the General Struggles forum a great place to post. Any any that is related to emotions, self-esteem, insomnia, anger, relationship dynamics due to mental health and recovery and other issues that don't fit better in another forum would be examples of topics that might go there.

If you have spiritual issues related to a mental health and recovery issue, please use the Recovery Related Spiritual Advice forum. This forum is designed to be like Christian Advice, only for recovery type of issues. Recovery being like a family in many ways, allows us to support one another together. May you be blessed today and each day.

  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

hi,

i've had depression diagnosed since 2005 - but I know I've had depression since 2001, but didn't get help until a major crisis in 2005. I've been on meds since then and i was in counseling until 2008. i have been feeling worse depression and i dont know if i need meds change or counseling again. the same bad thoughts about my life are coming back and its hard for me to have any motivation or even get out of bed in the morning. the symptoms i had back in 2005 are starting to creep back in and i dont' want to go back to where i was in crisis in 2005 because that was not fun being forced to see a counselor. so i dont go into crisis like i did back then should i see the doctor or a counselor? i dont want to feel this way and i try to feel good like friends tell me but it just doesnt work i feel like crap nearly all the time and i can barel get out of bed anymore. it takes me sometimes 3-4 hours to get out of bed because of depression. do i see doctor or counselor to get me less depressed

but my doctor will just be upset since he got the medicine working just right several years ago... he could feel really bad that it's not working anymore :(

Doctors realize that these medicines need adjustment and change over time. He will not be upset with you updating him on what's happening.

Sometimes the reason the medications do not work is the same reason that an alcoholic or drug addict needs more of the drug over time. Your body needs more to get the same result, or sometimes if the dose is as high as it can get try a different medicine. Doctors know this. He will not be upset.
