• The General Mental Health Forum is now a Read Only Forum. As we had two large areas making it difficult for many to find, we decided to combine the Mental Health & the Recovery sections of the forum into Mental Health & Recovery as a whole. Physical Health still remains as it's own area within the entire Recovery area.

If you are having struggles, need support in a particular area that you aren't finding a specific recovery area forum, you may find the General Struggles forum a great place to post. Any any that is related to emotions, self-esteem, insomnia, anger, relationship dynamics due to mental health and recovery and other issues that don't fit better in another forum would be examples of topics that might go there.

If you have spiritual issues related to a mental health and recovery issue, please use the Recovery Related Spiritual Advice forum. This forum is designed to be like Christian Advice, only for recovery type of issues. Recovery being like a family in many ways, allows us to support one another together. May you be blessed today and each day.

Your sobriety sister

Whow. Last Thursday was real hard. I went to visit a friend. And of course he was drinking beer. I had already opened a beer and sat there with it in front of me when I thought "No-no". I then put it aside.

I've never done anything like that, but it was a real victory.

When I came home I was mad as a wasp and thought that my life really sux. But that evening I really felt that I had won a major victory.

So. Three and a half months sober and counting.

Last sunday I celebrated seven months sober! I really didn't think this was possible when I started my sobriety. My life has totally turned sround in these seven months. That not saying that I am living a life in paradise, no, every day is a hard struggle.

If I can do it, anyone can. So there. Now, congratualate me! :p

They say that you won't find heaven when you get sober, that life is just a struggle. Why do they tell you that? They told me so every time I was in rehab. Probably to just don't get my expectations too high.

But here's the truth: Life is heaven for me now! It has turned around in seven months in ways I could not imagine earlier. Life is paradise! I am happy now, for once inmy life. I tell you this, and I'm not lying.

So for anyone else out there, struggling with alcohol, who they tell the same thing, that life won't become heaven when you sober up - they are liars. It is just a myth.

Sober life is heaven. At least compared to my earlier one in constant sickness, intoxication, worry, shame and so on.

Trust me.

(187 Days Sober!)

This is the first Christmas and New Years' for, like, ten years I've spent sober. I thought it wasn't possible, but it seems like it was. Indeed. I am now close to three months sober. And that's really great. wouldn't have dunnit without that antabus, I can tell you. I'll stay on antabus for as long as it takes, anything is better than getting back into the trench, eh. It's not too expensive either. The drink costs a lot more, methinks. Hee hee.

Cheers.
