So I bought the Complete Works of B. B. Warfield from CBD (http://www.christianbook.com/Christian/Books/product?item_no=96456&netp_id=190515&event=ESRCN&item_code=WW) and the set arrived on Friday. I don't know where I'm going to find time to read 5100+ pages, but after chewing through the first hundred, I am fairly resolved to do so! Any fans of the legacy of Princetonian theology should consider purchasing this (a ten volume set for only $49.99!). Warfield was surely among the most graced men to ever come out of Princeton.

Oh, yeah. Both Charles and A. A. Hodge were outstanding theologians and authors. Yet again excellent examples of the gifted and graced men to have come out of Princeton.

Warfield is excellent. Theologically deep, and fervent in spirit. If you get a chance, purchase several copies of his The Plan of Salvation. The title sounds like it is very basic theology, but it is really a comparison of different theological schools with the Reformed ordo salutis and deals well with theological complexities. I don't believe I have seen another writing that teaches so much theology with so few words. It is a small book, but very powerful. It is a real shame that it is so hard to find these days. Someone should pick it up as a project to see that it is never out of print.

I love you guys to death, but I just don't know how you do it. Sometimes I read these posts and think, "Wow, I'm so ignorant compared to you guys"--I just don't have the desire or patience to delve into some of the deeper issues and the volumous books by some of these great men.

Don't get me wrong, you don't come across as being smarter or better because of all the reading you do, it's entirely me-----I just wanted to say how impressed I am sometimes, and how woefully inadaquate I occationally feel when conversing with you.

Love you guys!

Bless you, Windi. You have such a good and humble heart. Know that none of us is anything apart from the grace of God, though. We are but humble servants, vessels of his glory. Where is the man who can say, "My knowledge is mine"? Does not everything come from the Lord? Who has understanding that is not first a blessing of our Heavenly Father? We are unprofitable servants, doing only what we should. Therefore, do not envy anyone their calling, but be thankful and grateful that God has called us to this. :)

For what is man that is a worm? or the son of man, which is a worm (Job 25:6)?

Soli Deo Gloria

Good day, Rolf

Will do!!

http://www.solid-ground-books.com/books_WarfieldTitles.asp

""In Warfield's own words: "THE SUBJECT to which our attention is to be directed in this series of lectures is ordinarily spoken of as 'The Plan of Salvation.' Its more technical designation is, 'The Order of Decrees.' And this technical designation has the advantage over the more popular one, of more accurately defining the scope of the subject matter. This is not commonly confined to the process of salvation itself but is generally made to include the entire course of the divine dealing with man which ends in his salvation."

This is a brief but precise exposition of the various views of salvation propounded in the world. If one masters this small work he is well on the way to understanding the nature of salvation and the character of the great God who saves sinners from every tribe, tongue and people to His own glory and praise. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED""

I have a order to put in with them for some other books.

Peace to u,

Bill

Imblessed--Don't be dissuaded by having little time to read. Many of these works have good scripture and subject indexes, which makes them good references. So even if you don't have time to read each line, just having them at hand is a wonderful resource; and you will almost always find yourself reading further than you had intended.

Thanks, Bill. I don't think I have ever been so happy at finding any other book to be in print.

What a theological gem!! And I get a discount for ordering "The Power of God unto salvation" along with it. They are away from the phone this saturday, but I will order two copies of each when they open. One set will go to an Arminian Southern Baptist preacher who may be receptive--who will be receptive if God is pleased to so bless him.

:D nice catch there! I've found myself doing just this sort of thing now that I no longer think in "arminian"! It's like learning a new language!! :p
