This doesn't come from a specifically Roman Catholic source, but I think it's within the bounds of Catholic spirituality, and our theology of baptism:

I wanted to make sure I got something a little more edifying in with everything else. :) Always good to have a mix of different types of threads. :)

Awakening is a theme of many Catholic spiritualists. I can think of Thomas Merton, Anthony DeMello, Meister Eckhart, and Henri Nouwen. When one reads the Gospels, Jesus tells people they must open themselves to God's Word and Kingdom, that they must recognize and awaken to the Holy Spirit around them and amongst them. One day many of us will be surprised to be told that we have not been awake, but sleeping; that we have been tuned in not to the voice and will of God, but to the voices of our own egos, desires and idols. We must awaken to God's presence within our souls.
