  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Avenged Sevenfold?

they are quite decent really. If you look past the wannbe-goth look and sometimes emo sounds you get a good band. The guitarists are pretty good, as is the fact that their style isn't always the same, which is nice in a genre where most of it sounds generic.

alas, as good as they are, the common 'metalcore' scream/growl (or whatever it is) is still present at times, though it isn't THAT bad and is alot less common than in other bands, which is nice because his clean vocals fit their style well.
A couple of years ago i would've bought a cd, but now, well, i'd pass them up.

i have the cd. it's good, but i don't listen to it much anymore because my style of metal is changing. loving the Gothenburg stuff right now. just need to find places that i can find the cd's and not just the files. only in time.

awsome, melodic death metal is the way to go....

i used to really like A7X, and the are still not that bad in my books, but since then, (my mall-goth days, yes i, the despiser of mall-goths, did in fact, used to be one), my tastes have changed. After that, i was into melodic death, then into power metal, then black, and now, i have an equal affinity towards the three, which end up being my favorite genres..

as for a7x I've only heard Waking the Fallen, and i heard their music is going downhill so i'll pass on the new one.

Oh, and best buy has newer cd's from more uncommon artists, but they don't ever seem to have their older albums. (for instance, they will have Arch Enemy's Dead Eyes See no Future EP and Doomsday Machine, but not Wages of Sin...) and sometimes they get lucky with really rare artists, like Arcturus.
Aside from that, you might want to try the (overpriced) FYE, with their 'metal' section, or try to get lucky at a CD exchange...
