Autism partially curable

Why do people need to be cured , though? People with autism have so much to offer , and we have so many qualities. If there were no autistic people , i truely believe that it would be an enormous loss.

I certainly do not think that autism is a wonderland ! The sensory difficulties that i experience, the internal daily struggles, is not what i would call a wonderland !!! !! In fact it has often led me to feel suicidal. However ,i believe that there is a reason for God making me this way, and that my life has just as much purpose as everyone else. God has not promised any of us an easy life, but He has promised to always be with us.Life is hard - but God is Good! Remember ,too ,that God's power is made perfect in our weakness. As Christians, our main aim should be to seek to bring God glory, and not about our own personal happiness. Also, consider that there are sometimes great risks involved during operations, treatments, etc. These risks could seriously harm, and / or kill your/ones child.

I think the whole basis of this discussion is unsound because the causes of autism are (as yet) unknown. There are lots of theories, but they are not proven. The most likely causes are brain abnormalities, but even this is uncertain. If the condition itself is not understood, there cannot be a cure. Of course, in this vacuum of understanding, all the quack theories flood in. But this adds nothing but confusion. What is needed is sound scientific/medical research which will take many years. Even when someone discovers something significant, it will take some time for the medical community to agree and move forward.

But as drifter says, God's power is made perfect in weakness. I have one advantage over the majority of the population - I know how limited I am, limitations caused by autism. Knowing this, I know my need of God - moment by moment. I'm starting to learn to let God put his thoughts in my mind, to discard my own faulty thinking and replace it with his. What release this brings.

The truth is we are all limited, autism or no. All limited compared to God. How can God who is unlimited be bothered with us little creatures? This is a question beyond answer. Praise God that he cares for me, that he shares himself with me.

I love this forum accept when the debates start...because I know I feel attacked...

we need to be sensitive to each others issues and feelings... and differences of not only opinion but also differences of thinking...
