I'm curious - all those who have read 5 or more books by Tolkien: Do you count LOTR as 3 books or 1? And have you read Silmarillion, or the Hobbit, or Unfinished Tales as the others? I've read LOTR, and the Hobbit, but couldn't get into Silmarillion. I read some of the Unfinished Tales, but again, not enough of a story line of any sort!

You could also ask if we count it as 6 books. :)

I'm counting it as six for the purpose of this poll.

And have you read Silmarillion, or the Hobbit, or Unfinished Tales as the others?

Yes to all those.

I've read LOTR, and the Hobbit, but couldn't get into Silmarillion.

The Silmarillion is difficult reading, especially with all those elven names, but if you take a little time to memorize the family trees, the Silmarillion is awesome reading! Very powerful stuff. :)

Name authors you're so devoted (or addicted) to that you've read five or more books written by them.

My list:

C.S. Lewis
Chaim Potok (The Chosen, My Name is Asher Lev, etc.)
Bernard Cornwell (Richard Sharpe series of historical fiction, and a great Authur trilogy)
Robert Jordon (Wheel of Time - devoted WAY to much of my life to that series)
Terry Brooks (Shannara series - yes, I'm a fantasy junkie)

I'd like to add Tolkien and Virginia Woolf, but I confess I have not read nearly as much of them as I like to put on. :sigh:
