Oh, and if you were specifically looking for a Christian book, I recommend Brideshead Revisted by Evelyn Waugh. Quite entertaining, and has quite a bit to do with Christianity at the end.

(MINOR SPOILER AHEAD)

(though nothing you can't figure out if you pay attention in the prologue, and nothing that would ruin the book)

By the way I've heard Warner Bros. is making a movie out of this, but leaving out Charles's conversion. Quite a shame, if that's true. It would be like making a movie out of Romeo and Juliet and not having them die at the end. Kind of defeats the purpose of the story.

Um.....

Purpose Driven Life by Rick Warren
Experiencing God by Blackaby
Mere Christianity by C.S. Lewis
Choosing Gods Best by Dr. Don Raunikar
Jesus Freaks by D.C Talk and The Voice of the Martys

The stories in Jesus Freaks honestly could make you cry - it opens your eyes to the world and what people really go through for their faith. Choosing Gods Best may have some radical ideas when it comes to your relationships w/ the opposet sex - but has some good thoughts on purity and how to gaurd your heart. Purpose Driven Life and Experiencing God just really make your relationship w/ God much more real and close. Mere Christianity is just one of those standby's you can read over and over again. Actually, all the books I listed you could read over and over again and learn new little tid bits eachtime.

:D :)

The Lord of the Rings plus the Hobbit - if you need to ask who the author is I don't think I want to talk to you anymore (jk)

Memnoch the Devil - Anne Rice - highly insightful and only somewhat sacreligious

To Kill a Mockingbird - I have actually forgot the author- someone please virutally smack me for that one

Two Against the Tide - you won't find it, there are only about 700 copies and the only reason I have one is because my friend's dad wrote it but it's very moving tale about two children taken from their home by their aunt to an island where everyone never grows older.... and their decision to give up immortality to grow as people after spending the summer there.

The Giver - no words, just read it

Brave New World - it deserves a second mention

Farenheit 451 - Brave New Worldish but with a separate aspect that distinguishes it

Expendables - don't know the author (again with the smacks please) but it's another sci-fi with morals story that is actually quite relevant to today's society

That's all I can think of for now, but I'll proabaly be back with more :)

Obviously, the Holy Scriptures would be #1, but as far as other books go:

1. Orthodox Spirituality According to St. Silouan the Athonite by Harry Boosalis
2. A Spiritual Psalter by St. Ephraim the Syrian
3. On Marriage & Family Life by St. John Chrysostom
4. The Spiritual Life & How to Be Attuned to It by St. Theophan the Recluse
5. Facing the World by Archbishop Anastasios (Yannoulatos) of Albania

I may post a list of influential fiction works later.
