Aussies converting to Islam.

The thing i love about Australia is the open tolerance we have for people from all cultures and religions. The many different facets in Australian society form a patchwork quilt which, in my humble opinion, is both beautiful and intriguing.

Variety is the spice of life.

Yes, we are a tolerant lot Shimmerstar. As long as they mingle with Australians. We have recently had a beautiful little Vietnamese couple move into our town. And, they are lovely! But any foreign religion would be howled down here!

It's an intersting point. One of the things I'd wonder is, why is it happening? What's the attraction of Islam?

The attraction of Islam is that it is a religion that ensures and enforces peace and chastity.

They also cherish fidelity, discipline, and honour in the same way that Christians are asked to. Yes, the Koran does mention Jesus in it, but they believe Mohammed to be THE prophet.

Islam also works, because it reveres order and prosperity. It won't work on me though. I'd rather die defending my family than to give my soul up for another faith that honors violence and paedophilia as opposed to peace and sexual self-control.

Islam is the religion, a moslem/muslim is someone who believes in the teachings of Islam.
crashedman is right, I think the attraction is that it is such a strict religion, and some of those rules are similar to Christian morals, and are probably good things to do. However the focus is on those rules and there are incredibly harsh penalties for breaking them. And the truth is, it's not a religion of peace like most people will try and tell you. True muslims are hell-bent on making the whole world a muslim state.
Anyway back to my original point, I think most people just want some order in their lives, something to look to as a standard of right/wrong because of the messed up post-modernist world we live in.

The fact that the koran is ambigious, and any muslim can interperate it their own way, makes it indeed something to be afraid about.

Unlike the Bible where it clearly states, to love our enemies, the koran has vague descriptions of that. Hence it can be used in may other things...

But they believed in the abominated version of Jesus. Jesus is indeed the son of God, they believe something that is contrary to the Bible. What surprises me is how they mention Jesus, yet fail to mention the indepth theology of Christianity. This in my opinion was caused by heracy, and this idea spread through the trade routes and influenced mohummed.

Clearly Heretics must have influenced the koran, otherwise how would there be a distortion and huge contradiction to the four gospels which has existed long before the koran.

It's not that I don't believe you, but being a Christian is something that is so Spiritual, that there is a difference. Often I can tell the difference between an atheist acting as a Christian....and I'm sure many could tell too.....

You can admit if your a muslim or not...but if you are, the words you've posted up there are not at all thought provoking. It's a coward way of promoting your religion in a Christian forum.

JESUS is the only way any person in this world can achieve order, peace and serenity. That's why we love God. He sent His Only BEGOTTEN SON to this world in order to save us through Divine Grace.
No bloke called mohommed died as Jesus did as the final sacrifice.

Islam, as you pointed out, Jim, is NOT a religion of peace. Christians are systematically hunted down and murdered in Muslim-dominated countries. Muslims are also at the heart of the world's fiercest acts of terrorism. Yet they'll come to our "free" countries and claim all the benefits of that freedom without having to worry about the same persecution, and THEN in insidious ways, put their own agendas in the schools systems and everyplace else. Which would never happen in their countries if the shoes were on the other feet. Now, I believe each person needs to make his or her own choices as to whom "this day they shall serve" as the Bible says - but it's frustrating to be a Christian in a world corrupted by sin and overrun by Satan and his minions. It always seems we are the minority, but God is bigger than all of this and His will shall be done!

Yes, Bev, Aussies are very tolerant people, but that doesn't mean you don't know right from wrong and can't stand up for what you believe in! Andy seems to be taking you a bit too literally.

I'm doing a studies on the silk trade...back centuries ago, even before Christ entered earth to give us a wakeup call, and despite that, we still sinned, he died for our sins.

but after 507AD, most muslims claim that mohummed existed before Christianity and Jesus....which is plain ridiculous, and also shows the amount of intelligence they have, including the drive by shootings in Sydney.

Islam spread rapidly along the silk road, where the trade from China to Persia and eventually reach the romans. It spread so fast because of it's use as a military force which forced the persians to submit to islam, and consequently the rest of the middle east.

China and Rome stopped trading with each other, because islam was a great problem, which had very little philosophies, less reasoning, more military and essentially they feared it'd spread like a plague into china. If you look at the tribes or cities in the middle east, they use to be filled with merchants, who are willing to accept all kinds of religions, even a heretic christian belief spread right to japan....and a church was recently found in both Japan and China. In otherwords, you might call that city "a prostitute". However for China and Rome, they like arguing with philosophy, about Religion, morality....etc.....

Islam however, leaves no room for that, it's either than or execution. So you can see why China and the west, didn't like islam, and saw it as a threat.

In otherwords, in islam, theres no room for free speech or debate....some would argue otherwise.....

The thing is, I will always view islam as a heretic religion. Their ideas, I believe were taken from a heretic Christian that was kicked out of Greece...and when he spread the news, mohummed heard of it, and took it on his own. Which is why islam is such a screwed up religion.

Andy you have no idea whats it like dealing with lebanese muslims. They're so rude when they're selling shoes, no manners, and they expect you to buy. If you don't buy they go agressive.

And thats not all, most of their attitudes in sydney really stinks, when 9/11 came, they were celebrating on the streets and in the mosque...which I think the leader condemed and he was asleep at that time.......Bali....same thing happened, them celebrating......


Trust me....that is how much we aussies tolerate lebanese muslims, after the gang rapes taht occured, that aimed at beautiful aussie girls....we couldn't hold our temper any longer.

Even the prisoners were threating to eat the gang leader's flesh whilst in prison, for raping and aiming at Australian girls for his hatred.

I'm with you & Wolf all the way Jim. Why? Because they do not believe Jesus is the Son of God, and they walk into our countries, claim all benefits and refuse to salute our flags. I remember what they did to the pretty Australian girls. Their cowardly acts of violence by moving in gangs against helpless girls who never harmed them. I was wondering if anyone has ever seen on TV or heard of a muslim Firefighter in Australia?
Then we have these muslim so called "refugees" who feed their faces with MacDonald's food, then board rickety boats to Australia in order to sneak into our country. To protect themselves they bring their children as lures hoping the kids will find their way into Aussie hearts and therefore...their adult selves. NO WAY!! Not with this Aussie.

Bev I know how you feel.....it's usually the pot smokers or uni students that think they're ahread of everyone else...but let me tell you a research about how intelligent uni students actually are.....well except for telecom engineers...we've always claimed to be the most logically usefully, intelligent...not....

There was a lecturer who came in to a bunch of uni-students, and talked about lamarks theory as opposed to evolution, where physical things will be passed on to the children....so the common example, a giraffe, the long neck, was caused by one animal who decided to stretch it's neck....and passed the long neck to it's children in just one generation.

Which is totally ridiculous, because if a mother had a tatoo, then the tatoo would be passed down to the child....eventually, everyone would have scribbles on their arms and back.....lol....

Anyways, the second lecturer after that, talked about evolution....and the whole lecture room revolted.....well, the previous lecture, they made it convincing.....but still, if you had brains, you'd know these things......
They kept trying to disprove the lecturer....and eventually the first lecturer walked in and asked, who in here is an evoluntionist and who in here is a lamarkist....and 90% of the students thought lamark was correct.

Honestly, these people are ....you get the picture....

Just remember, those who protest for refugees, even if they say their from uni, does not imply, and should not imply they are intelligent.......

I remember when the uni students shook the Speaker's chair from Parliament House in Hobart for a prank. How they got in was a mystery until they found the chair.
