  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Ooooooooh I like Jimmy Barnes! Like John singing "Love Is In The Air Too" (John Paul Young) I must admit that I liked that film 'Strictly Ballroom' And John gave it the finishing touch with that wonderful song. Remember them singing it at the Sydney Olympics?
Well Bevlina... guess what? Jophn Paul Young lives a couple of mintes down the road from me!!! How cool is that?
His house is surrounded by a huge brick wall though and you never see him. I drive past it at least 2 or 3 times a day most days. Its a modest and normal home which is nice!!!:p

I'm a fan of Savage Garden, i thought they were great. I also like Cold Chisel and John Farhnam... i live most music... except really heavy stuff!!!

Personally i like the Chrsitmas Carol, 'Six White Boomers' it is a classic!!!

JPY Lives a few minutes from you!! WOW lil!! He was on Burkes Backyard I think & they showed his garden & if I remember correctly it was a modest home. Not like John Farhnam's!! The house on his farm looks as if it came from the South America - last century Gone With The Wind stuff. Two storey very ornate. Lush pastures with horses grazing.
I like JPY. I reckon "Love Is In The Air" is so beautiful.
hehehe...Six White Boomer's. snow white boomers, racing Santa Clause through the blazing sun...Six white boomers, snow white boomers...on his Australian run.
I like "My Boomerang Won't Come Back" too.

Hi all
I remember Frank Ifield, Litle Patty, JO'K, Col Joye, not with any particlular fondness, but I remember 'em.
Greatest Australian band ever, in my humble opinion, was Weddings Parties Anything. Cold CHisel were wonderful too, as were the Oils.
I don't think I'm going to make myself real popular here, but I reckon Jeff Bullock's Great South Land of the Holy Spirit, which someone referred to a couple of days ago, doesn't know whether it wants to be a religious song or a travel brochure, and as a result, in three verses and a chorus, it says exactly nothing. I have no time for this song whatsoever.

Music makes life happy Brute. Yes, we put our heart and soul into learning it, and training, but, ooooo the consequences are immense! I recall marching alone for hours with side drum attached just playing tattoos. I recall teaching the young by marching them down the street with side drum attached just on tattoo's.
I recal the hours, and hours of training just to play 'The Last Post' for Anzac Day on trumpet. It got so bad I was worried all the doggies in the neighbourhood would find their way to my place thinking I WAS the last post.
As for the piano...hours turned to weeks...weeks to years...years to experience...and now? I hardly touch the piano. What's the use?
Dance band...ooooooh..the practise of the beats, the tempo. When to use the high hat, ride the ride cymbol, crash the cymbol, bring in the toms. Seems that I have been with music for a life time...now though...the drums are silent...so is the trumpet. No use to me anymore! Only to teach...*yuk*
