One of the reasons I think that the Australian church is failing is because it is such a blessed country.

People say "Who needs God? I have everything I want..."

What about developing countries? Is the church increasing there or decreasing?

why do you say the Aussie church is failing? have yo been to all churchs in Australia? in developing countries like ugand Christianity is increasing

Indeed people are saying this. And other's are saying "I need God to make me richer"... Other churches are saying other things. The churches to me today seem to babble alot. And yes, they are reaching into developing countries.
I believe the Institutionalised churches are doing alot there.

And...you can interrupt any time you want!

I was referring to the original thread title.

Maybe here in SYdney where you have churches like Hillsong we can see the growth. I come from a country town in northern NSW and I can tell you that people are falling away from the church and I haven't heard about any new christian churches popping up (there is one where the women wear long hair and long dresses, the people get the radios taken out of their cars and they drink a lot of alcohol - anybody know what sort of church this is? Noone in my home town could tell me and until now I had forgotton about it so I haven't researched it yet...)

Real numbers on this I do not have....

Actually art. I went to an AOG, and from what I heard from Marylin Hickey on TV.
Her words were.

"We have millionaires is here today. I'm talking to all of you. (camera goes to focus on audience and the smug smiles on the men's faces)
All you have to do is plant a seed of faith. It takes one seed to make a big tree. (description)
And I'm telling you, that if you send all your money to me, God will make you a millionaire." (camera focuses on smug looks on men's faces)

At the AOG I went to...when the bag came around, the minister pranced around and said "Yes! The Lord loveth a cheerful giver!!"

Jesus stated that it is when you give of yourself, that you TRULY give. Paul mentions good works.

well yes God does Love a cheerfull giver i see nothing wrong with a biblical statement like this, it also means if your not cheerful or have the right heart about it dont give thats what we say.
so whats the problem? surely you arnt laying claim to the evils of the churchs to these 2 experiences you have had? of course there are some didgy people out there but there is also some real people here too

Acts 10:32 tells us art, that God is no respector of persons. Is that what you are refering to here?
True...He is not, but Adam was the first created. Therefore, the man comes before the woman as the woman was created to be a helpmate to Adam.
Therefore, the woman's role today is to be a helpmate to her husband, but, mindful always that it was the male who was created first. So, she stands back to allow the man to lead her as head of the house as far as things of God go.

I understand this but i dont think you can pass judgement from what you have seen or experienced a few times wouldnt you agree? if all the black people i come into contact with were criminals doesnt mean all black people are criminals correct?

Yes, you are definitely correct about black people. And, I do not judge. please, don't think I do...but I am very wary of some churches today.
Wary of what they are teaching, and preaching. Preaching/teaching women are but one of the things I am wary about. Women should keep silent in the church.
You seem to think I am passing judgement. No art...far from it....as I have already stated...I am wary.
I don't believe in infant baptism either. Can't find one instance of it in the new Testament. So it's not just one or two churches I am wary of...

most sins have a consequence agreed? in their are always good reason for the things God says not to do or to say etc
what would be the consequences of say infant Baptism? or women teaching?

I just dont get how you say that you believe literally that paul said about women teaches but you say you dont agree with slaves or cutting off of ones hand if it causes him to sin>?

I don't know the consequences of infant baptism art, I just pray the infant baptised just grows up to really know what the gospel is all about, and receives personal salvation.

As for the women teaching/ preaching. If the Bible states it is wrong, it is wrong. I would suggest the women all start to get down on their knees and pray hard about this and start anew by searching the scriptures correctly. Not just listening to the words of man, nor reading the words of man regarding this and that, but to really search the scriptures. And, to pray diligently.
There are wonderful women in this world today standing beside their men in India and places like that. And, they shine a beautiful light indeed.
