None of this explains why trying to stop non-Christians having sex with the wrong people through legislation is more important than caring for the poor, the vulnerable and the homeless.

Quoting OT prophesy as though it were addressed to the Commonwealth of Australia is absurd - it's addressed to the People of God and their own internal behaviour, not to a secular state.

Scripture calls on God's people to:
Make their own behaviour a light to the blind
To oppose systems of injustice.

It does not call on them to try to impose such things as sexual ethics on outsiders.
what is the world coming to when you and I agree on something!;)

None of these responses reflect God's. Obedience is imperative. The penalty for mortal sin is death. This is my final post here as I cannot respond when people's minds are closed.
I think perhaps you should open your mind. See neither ebia or I have ever said we should ignore God's word and law. We agree with it. Where you and I disagree is that you believe it is appropriate for us to force our beliefs on others. That is an unusual position in the church as most in the church will acknowledge the Spanish inquisition was wrong. Yet that is essentially what you are saying we should do. Ebia and I believe we are to be a light and show the way but that is through our actions not just by forcing opinions on others.

Haha rare occasion?
I'm sure we agree on essentials of the Christian faith but on other matters we have often disagreed. Ebia is always polite even though we have which is great. I love when people can remain civil despite disagreeing although sometimes recently I have failed in that area.

I think that everyone fails in that area at one point or another :)

terrible situation and genuine persecution but why would they choose to use wine????
Because they are following scripture?

My interest, however, isn't in the particularities of this instance of persecution, or even in the actions of Iran, but in what it says about our country that it would want to force people to return to a country that does stuff like this to them.

i think using wine is being legalistic. I don't see anything actually suggesting wine must be used. I do accept that others see it differently.

I do get the bigger picture thing as well but I don't go to redfern and chant anti-aboriginal slogans because it just makes no sense so I would not use wine for communion in a country where alcohol use was illegal. if spreading the gospel was illegal I would still do it but be careful just like missionaries are careful in that situation. There are different laws that should be followed and laws that you can break because God's instruction is more important but still be careful.

I think I’m starting to loose respect for this Country and its people. Australia is getting too proud and it sends me out of my mind with anger that many Christians support what the Coalition government is doing. How can Christians ignore social justice issues like this **shakes head**
