 We are being over-run by lady bugs inside our home, and I was wondering if anyone has any idea how to get rid of them. I tried bombing, and came up with a lot of tiny little bodies, but there are still alot of them alive and well. Any help would be very appreciated.

Wow, I have never heard of anyone having this problem. The ladybugs who have gotten into my home promptly die. I would love it if I had them all over my yard but I can understand not wanting them in the house. Hope you find a solution.

Hold the phone... these little guys are actually good for your garden. Shame, shame for killing these little critters. They are so cute as well.

My grandfather once bought 10,000 ladybugs, and released them into his yard. They all flew away by the next day...lol
I have thought about buying them but for that reason didn't. I guess you have to have the right plants for them to stick around or the right bugs.

I know they are beneficial to my yard, but they are not in my yard... they are in the house by the dozens! If I pour another bowl of ladybug flavored cheerios, I might go insane! I have used the scoop and throw out the door method. I have sucked them up with nylons and a vacuum. And yes, I have bombed them. How do I keep them out? I've looked on the internet for advice, and short of spending hundreds of dollars, I don't know how to get rid of them. I was hoping for a inexpensive natural remedy. I do thank you for your comments, though. God Bless...

Ladybugs are great for eating aphids and other pests, but the ones you have in your house will have been there all winter. They are now trying to get out and are a little lost.

Use a vacuum with a nylon on the end and vacuum them up and then pull out the stocking and take them out side and release them in your garden and flower beds.

To keep them out of the house next year, make sure to caulk around all windows and other cracks, check roof and soffit vents and make sure screens are well secured and free of holes. This will help keep them out next year. You could also get a lady bug house for the garden too.

Otherwise, ladybugs in the garden are a blessing in disguise.

OK here's my take. First off, there are Lady Bugs, which are red with black spots. Then there is a European variety that are orange with black spots and actually bite. The European variety are the only ones that I see any more.

That aside, I use Ortho Home Defense. You spray it around the base of your house as well as doorways, windows and electrical sockets.

You can also use it indoors, so long as you keep any indoor pets away until it dries.

I still see them around the yard and garden outside, but no insects live inside of the house for as long as four months.

I hope that we have given you some good suggestions.
Stephen :)

We don't have as many as when I first posted this thread, but they are still here. I think they are going outside because of the nice weather. Now I just need to caulk around any openings so they don't come back in the fall. But from my understanding, their phermones are all over my house, so they will more than likely try getting back in. Besides the caulk job, I will probably have to treat them chemically. I thank everyone for their advice. God Bless...

Here's a site for you:
http://www.ars.usda.gov/is/br/lbeetle/

There is info about prevention and ridding oneself of them on this page.

Then I found this info on another site:

As a suggestion to one question futher up about a way to get rid of lady beetles, I put a container with water, a drop of dish soap liquid and sugar on the widow sill where the beetles are. They are almost instantly attracted to the solution and dive right in. And because the soap coats the wings, they can't fly out again. Sounds mean, but we have literally thousands in our house, and since we are under renovations we can't seal the house. Vacuuming is a waste of time. PS: the solution works for all kinds of flying pests, wasps, flys, etc.

Chris What type of container do you use and how much water and sugar?

Fred:
Any container will do, but I have been experimenting with different kinds, and the best is a plastic opaque-type container (my best one is a container I got muffin papers in) or a margarine or sour cream container, nothing you want to use again, though! The beetles don't seem to like glass jars though. I don't actually measure, I fill the container about 3/4 with water, add a drop or two of liquid soap, and just pour in the sugar, maybe 2 tbsps or so. I know it isn't very technical, but it really seems to work well. There seems to be a ton of beetles here, probably because of spring coming, and I have to dump the containers a couple of times a day, and refill. I put the containers where the beetles are, so on the window sill, under my son's night light at night... Let me know how it goes. Chris

The same things happened to me. Our house is a light tan and when you went out side the walls were covered with them. They were everywhere. They got in the house and when you sit down to try to eat they land in your food. YUK. We like lady bugs too but that was to many. Raid Ant and Roach spray did they trick for us. We literally spraid the whole outside of our house and they went away. We haven't had any problems since then. We also heard the govt. let them go. I bet they didn't let them go around their houses. HAHA.

Ok that's all I have for you. I hope it helps. :)

Although the lady bugs have probably flown away by now, I figured that I’d expand a little bit on you infestation.

Have you ever thought that the lady bugs might be some sort of spiritual sign? Farfetched? Maybe. Impossible? Probably not.

When I see strange happenings of this kind, I begin to wonder if there is some sort of spiritual cause. To find out if this is possible, I researched lady bugs. It just so happens that lady bugs are related to the spiritual. (This may be related to what Carl Jung called synchronicity.}

“The ladybug is the emblem of Lucina, who was later merged with Juno and Diana. She was later converted to Christianity as "St. Lucy." The early Lucina was a goddess of light and therefore - because birth is the first time humans see light - of labor and childbed. She was honored in September and December and her holidays were enforced by the superstition that any work done on those days would be undone by the next day.” [Source: http://www.geocities.com/Area51/Dungeon/4785/Roman.html ]

Saint Lucy (or Saint Lucia) is venerated both by Catholics and some Protestants. Her feast day is December 13. She was martyred when she rejected her pagan bridegroom, was tortured, and was then killed. Some believe that she lost her eyes as part of her torture. Thus, she is the patron saint of blind people or people with poor eyesight.

There is another indication that the lady bugs may have a spiritual significance. This is from a site called Kundalini-Gateway. The writer posted the following: “I had a lady bug infestation last summer in my apartment, they were all up inside the light fixtures from the crawl space in the ceiling... My granddaughter and I thought they were delightful so we never made a complaint about them... we had seen what they did to the ants so we kept them a secret and freed them by the hand full as they gathered in the fixtures. She still turns off the lights so as not to burn the bugs that gather there. I don't know what lady bugs may represent though.” [Source: http://www.kundalini-gateway.org/klist/k2001b/k200103450.html ]

Kundalini-Gateway is a site, which gives support and information for those undergoing a kundalini awakening. (BTW, this is great site for anyone interested in kundalini.)

The whole point of this post is to show that the lady bugs may not be a random event but may be due to the spiritual development of you (or to someone in your house).

Lady bugs, lady beatles, lady birds....asian beetles, fun to see outside a pain in the rear inside! my mom who lives in the midwest get them infesting in her house every year....inside they even survive the winters! the actually stink when squashed, sometimes they pinch you and they gather in cluster at the peak of her hous in the kitchen above the table...it is not atractive or appatizing. depending on where you live asian beatle (lady bug) infestations are fairly common
