How many times in your life has something happened just because you wanted it to happen? the good news you think you have is all in your mind, you hope it will happen then you tell yourself that it will then you begin to believe it.

I wanted a pony when I was young but we couldn't afford one, now that I can afford one I have no where to keep it, life can be so hard sometimes, it doesn't stop me hoping though, but that's a physical thing and it's achievable, when we come to the fantastic that's a whole different ball game.

We are nothing more than a sack of chemicals, wishing we weren't changes nothing, we are still a sack of chemicals and will remain so until we die.

BTW the 'you don't know that' argument is childish because we do know that, death happens every day every where in the world to every living thing,
but knowing that shouldn't stop you believing whatever makes you feel good, it doesn't help if you live in the real world but in LaLa land all things are possible.

Why would a sack of chemicals want a pony......in the Darwinist worldview?

To me, there is very little between Atheists and people who claim to be religious and don't practice any religion. To me, pople have to be active in their faith to be apart of their faith, because it is their God that they are trying to please. If they truly believe that God exists, then they understand that he can see what they are or are not doing and take steps accordingly. Thse who merely show up in church and go through the prescribed motions aren't really religious. I'd call them spiritual, but nothing else.

Religion is not just a label like Tommy Hillfinger and it is not worn by people just to get those peoples approval.
I completely agree.

I have read just about every study done on religious beliefs. Some vary a bit, but virtually all recognize the slow but steady decline in religious beliefs.
And the slow but steady increase in broken homes, and the increase in prostitution in our schools, and the increase in drug abuse and gangs activity, and the increase in pollution, and the increase in climate-related natural disasters, and so much more...
If Christians are right, we could be in for some exciting times...

Violent crime the world over has declined for decades, so this gloom and doom some Christians want to claim, has no evidence to support it. One thing you will enjoy, abortions have also steadily declined over the last decade.

Furthermore, the countries that tend to have highest quality of life; low crime, good education and high standards of living, tend to be less religious.

Because along with all the other different types of life on this planet this life is all us sacks of chemicals have, a pony would have made this one very happy when I was young, alas it was never to be.

Don't you like the fact that we are primarily just sacks of chemicals, secondly like you this particular sack of chemicals is put together to form an ape like animal called
Homo sapiens who live very short lives indeed compared to some other life forms.

If I didn't know better I would swear you were trying to ruin her day or at the very least make her think.

Some ex-believer said there was no grey area in the mind of a believer, everything is either black or white, right or wrong, left or right, there is no middle ground in the mind of a believer, that's why they either reject it or believe it, there is no where to put anything so they can think about it later, they either reject it or believe it there and then.

It reveals your evasion and lack of ability to discuss the answer to the question.
I already noted that the question presents a false dichotomy. I really don't see what else is needed. It wasn't that "deep" a question; it wasn't even shallow.

Well, one can simply claim "loaded question" when wishing to evade answering and everything will be ok, I guess.

Black and white thinking is on full display in regards to those with fundamentalist beliefs.
