I will pray for you, my friend. I wouldn't put all your hopes in your reasoning power though. We call our faith a "reasonable faith" because it leads you in his direction, but in the end, you will need to add that last bit of faith to make it. And frankly, I believe that's one of the things God is trying to do in our lives...to help us grow our faith. One of these days, you're going to be ripped out of this existence, and I believe God is trying to get us prepared for that day of destiny. My favorite verse..."Though he slay me, yet will I trust in him"...Job 13:15 (KJV). That's me in a nut shell.

But also know this...you say that you're trying to find God, but I assure you, he knows exactly where you are. My sincere prayers for you.

Well, Alcoholics Anonymous have the 12 steps to sobriety. Maybe you modify the 12 steps as a pathway to God. :)

I am just trying to help. You may pray to the Higher Power, which is some power that is greater than you in some way, shape, or form, and imagine that higher power as God.

LTS, I don't know what to tell you. I know I can pray for you in a very broad sense, but I believe it would help to know more about you and the troubles that haunt you.

I don't know. That is a phrase that I wish more people would use when they don't actually know. I think some people's perceived knowledge has led many people away from God. I don't know everything about the bible. There are some very learned people on this forum, and a lot of them know a lot. They can speak in multiple languages. They can quote parts of the bible I didn't know existed.

Believe it or not, my rambling has a point. I don't know everything, but I know it is easy to get sidetracked. When you look around this board and see all the dizzying intellectual conversations, remember you don't have to know everything. You start at the begining. Simple truths you can learn from simply reading the bible: God created everything. Jesus came to earth, died, was raised from the grave and is now in Heaven; all this was for you and me. The greatest gift is love. Start simple and build up.
Sometimes you have to forget things to begin again. I fell away for a long time. I came back and read the bible to learn, and guess what...without preconceived thoughts and notions of what I was trying to prove by the bible, I began to truly understand things and see them in ways I never had before.
I will pray for you as soon as I hit the reply button. I don't have all the answers, but I am here to talk with you as an equal. No brow beating. I have messed up too much to be high and mighty. But that's the awesome thing about Jesus's sacrifice. We don't have to be perfect. We don't have to know everything. We can disagree and try to figure things out as brothers and sisters. He knows we are imperfect and He has given us a way to survive eternally in spite of our shortcomings. So what shuould you do next?

I don't know.

Reply. Tell me and all the people reading this about yourself and the strugle that has you in it's grips. I still may not know after you tell us what is going on. But we can work on it together. Just you, me, and the internet.

Hello Friend,

Thanks for your honesty. And as with the rest of the folks on here, I am glad you're here. I am definitely praying for you! And I actually know how you feel. When I was in high school there was time when I renounced God completely and became an atheist. I would sit in church and wonder how all those people could be living a false reality. Man was I so wrong. It was me living the false reality. And to be honest, things went from bad to much worse. I got in trouble with the law and drugs. Then finally I came to my senses and came back to God.

He saved my life. He saved me from myself. He saved me in Afghanistan. And then He saved my mom too. You can find my testimony on this site, and on my website whoisjesus4real.com. So please know that God is there. And He is waiting for you. Simply open your heart and your mind and He will begin to go to work in your life. I made a list of miracles that happened to me while in Afghanistan, and believe me when I say it's true. Knowing Jesus can change your life. Just give Him another chance starting today! Your friend in Christ, Ryan

Dear Father,

You know the deepest doubts and questions of LogicTruthSeeker, and I pray that You will guide Him towards either answers or Your perfect peace "which exceeds anything we can understand" (Philippians 4:7). Thank You for stirring in Him a desire to experience Your presence again. Take LogicTruthSeeker's aspiring faith and help it grow strong. Bless LogicTruthSeeker on his spritual journey, and may it ultimately lead to Your perfect love. In Jesus' Name. Amen.:prayer:

I am desperately trying to come back to God and Christ.
That doesn't sound too much like an atheist to me.:) Your mere desire for God is faith in itself. I like Mark 9, where Jesus meets a man whose son needs healing. Jesus says everything is possible if one believes. The man, however, does not respond in an amazing profession of faith. Rather he simply says, "I do believe; help me overcome my unbelief" (Mark 9:24). Recognizing the man's mere desire to believe was enough for Jesus, and he healed the man's son. Your desire to believe is enough for Jesus, too, so rest assured in His love--even when doubts and feelings of unbelief surge inside of you. Give Christ the smallest bit of faith you have--even if you feel like it's only a desire to believe at the moment.
Remember, God tells us, "My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness" (2 Corinthians 12:9)

Blessings,

Miss Tea

The difference between our faith and every other belief system is the difference between "advice" and "news". Yeshua didn't just come to give advice. He came to bear our debt, to pay for the penalty of our sins, the wages of sin is death, so that we could be free to forgive one another as he forgave us. And so that we could receive the kind of love we as beings so desperately need - unconditional, accepting love. None of us had this kind of love that we need, only Messiah could love us and he did so, so that we could become the kind of people he created us to be.
It's not what we can do for God but what He has done for us. He entered "our world," He took on
"our humanity," He bore "our sins," He died "our death, "He was resurrected for "our life," He's coming again for "our glorification."
Paul in his letter to the Romans is urging us on the basis of all that he taught on, on the basis of all that has been done, he urges us to become living sacrifices:
I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that ye present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable unto God, which is your reasonable service. And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God. (Romans 12:1, 2 KJV)

If we have not understood all that the mercies of God has done, if we have not understood doctrinally and theologically deep enough, all that Messiah has accomplished for us, then we have become useless to him. God is calling us to live our lives as living sacrifices unto him. Our problem is, we are so prideful that we are not willing to give up anything for others. When a sacrifice was laid upon the alter there was a great deal of suffering involved, the animal experienced pain and suffering. What are we willing to give up? What are we willing to place upon the alter? So that we can become a blessing to others, and become servants of the Most High God?

i'm a little confused ... your thread title suggests you are an atheist ... i don't see that ... one doesn't try to get back to something one doesn't believe in :) be encouraged ... God knows exactly where you are ... and you don't have to look for Him ... He meets you where you are ... just ask Him to meet you ... what i believe is really the issue is a faith crisis ... we've all been through them ... some harder than others ... but you will find Him when you seek ... He says so ... just don't overlook the obvious things ... like He also says He won't let us go and He won't forsake us ... these dry valleys are intense ... just keep walking and know beyond doubt there will come that exact moment when you can see the Light again ... an important thing to understand is it's not our faith we live by ... it's the faith of Jesus and what He believed and did for us ... it's His faith we need ... ask Him for the faith you need to overcome this ... He always provides what we need ... ask Him for strength ... for understanding ... whatever you feel you need ... learn to trust Him ... He will help you every step of the Way ... God never went anywhere ... He's right there next to you ... loving you and wanting to help you ... mourning and hurting with you ... as a Father would ... aching to be there for you ...

just keep on keepin on ...

LogicTruthSeeker,

God pursues each of us with a furious love. He has not left you.

Not one of us can save ourselves.
Not one of us can be worthy.
Not one of us is faithful.

Stop striving. Be still. Know that He is the one and only true God, King of the Universe.

You need only to decide that you want to be His and submit yourself to His love. Surrender yourself with all of your faults. He waits with open arms.

It is God who saves.
It is God who justifies.
It is God who sanctifies.
Apart from Him we can do nothing.

He will not act on any of them without your permission. Ask Him to do these things in you. Invite Him to do that in which He delights. It's that simple.

Just the desire of wanting to be close to God again is God Himself reaching out to you, drawing you near to Him. So have no fear or worry. He loves you, always has and always will. Just believe it.
