At what age did you feel the "OLD" setting in.

I have never really dreaded a Birthday or another year passing. But knocking on the door of my 29th year I am feeling the "oldness" coming in.

A lot of my friends said either 29 or 30 were the years that bothered them.

I mean it is not like I have not experienced anything, I have experienced being Married, Children, College, a Career..so why does 29 feel so DOOMING!!

At what age do you think you will feel like something gotta give or the age where you are now OLD..

Here is to the last year of the 20's ;)

A therapist I saw a few years ago said that one's thirties is the best decade of life. Therefore, you are one year away from the best decade of life.

Old? There is not a numerical age that will make me feel old. What will make me feel old is when I am no longer considered employable in the formal economy.

I don't know exactly what it is. It could be that younger workers are astronomically less expensive--their health insurance costs a lot less; they don't need time off for maternity, family responsibilities, etc.; they don't hurt the bottom line with pensions and other retirement benefits; etc. It could be that younger workers are naive and will therefore work more for less. It could be that younger workers are more in touch with the demographic that spends the most money; therefore, they are a better resource for ideas. Or it could just be pure ageism. Or it could be a combination of all of those variables. But for whatever reason, at a certain chronological point the labor market frowns on people.

When I have passed that point I will feel old.

If I could have my druthers, I would work hard for the rest of my life doing work that I am good at and that I enjoy, and I would never retire.

You are too funny Friend ^_^

Anything for a laugh.

Seriously, though, just enjoy each year as it comes. Every year, a little more experienced. Every year, a little wiser.

And nobody's going to fault you if you can't find your false teeth.

I started to feel old as soon as people my age started having kids etc. I don't usually feel old... until reminded of this (no offense intended). Most of the time, however, I still feel young. Chronological age itself hasn't made me feel old yet.

No kidding. My best friend got married when we were Juniors in college. Then his wife got pregnant, half way through Senior year. As soon as we graduated, other people in the fellowship started getting married and getting pregnant. Now I'm "Uncle Will" to half a dozen babies.

Actually, now that you mention it, I think that's the first time I really felt it, too.

:D BlessedJourney - You sound like the way I'm thinking right now. I turn 29 later this year which means next year I'm 30 . BTW Happy Birthday for this year.

I think that feeling old is relative. When I started grad school and was still living in residence with mainly undergrads, I felt old in the evening around my younger dormmates, and felt young during the day around my older classmates. That was a few years ago. Now, I feel really young almost all of the time, because my co-workers are mostly all old enough to be my parents.

I hope to never feel absolutely old. I have a grandmother who is over 90, and she always says that she doesn't feel old. Hopefully I'll be saying the same thing when I am her age.
