I dunno, maybe I don't get around much here, but i haven't run into awful stuff happening between members.
Maybe I'm clueless.
I want to just let Erwin decide.

:hug:s for my HD!

It's pretty bad, dear friend. It's part of the reason I withdrew my mod app after 95% approval. It causes me depression that there are so many hurt feelings here; and it causes me anxiety that people will lash out so violently in their hurt.

Me, I'm just as guilty as anyone else. :sigh:

Ammianus Marcellinus wrote in the Fourth Century regarding Julian the Apostate:

He ordered the priests of the different Christian sects, and their supporters, to be admitted to the palace, and politely expressed his wish that, their quarrels being over, each might follow his own beliefs without hindrance or fear. He thought that freedom to argue their beliefs would simply deepen their differences, so that he would never be faced by a united common people. He found from experience that no wild beasts are as hostile to men as Christians are to each other.

But they are moderating, and apparently doing a good job.
It’s just one step at a time. You don’t simply one day change something completely, you systematically change it over time. One thing we learn from history, is that we learn nothing from history.

I didn't say they were incompetent or anything. If fact I'm sure they could do a great job moderating a non chrisitan based site.
But the boy said they were doing better than 3/4 of Christian moderators..sorry I took offense.
I just thanked a non christian mod for getting a bunch of trolls out of the CB when I reported it multiple times.
She's a sweet heart and I know she would never go as far as to proselytize her religion here, at least I don't think so.
But as a Christian based site there needs to be boundaries set into place and if the Christians only sections are set back up in no way should non believers be moderating them...
As a Christian site there should not be any non christians moderating or in a postion of outreach...
That's my view.

Well yeah, someone probably sent you a PM or email alerting you to the poll where CF is going to denounce being a Christian community and then change the name to something else once enough votes are acquired from the mass alert the non-Christians are sending to all their contacts. Given time, that is what will eventually happen with this poll, the Christian community will loose their forums. I wish the Atheist sites (etc…) would be so democratic as well so we can take them over, but when ever I post any Christian ideas at such sites I risk getting banned so I don’t stick around those places long.

You should stick around there, really. We're mostly a bunch of nice boys and girls. And no, we don't have a plan to destroy CF and eat lots of cookies. I'm not an atheist but I love and respect nearly everyone there, many of whom I consider friends. And no, you won't get banned for preaching as long as you are respectful about it. In fact, I would love to talk to you!

And for the record, we do have several Christian mods.

Anyone else see the irony that the mods active in this thread, keeping the original poll open, etc. are Sparklecat and Raven, and that they've been even-handed and levelheaded, despite so many insulting their capability to mod this site?

No offense, but I find it hard to believe that someone who's only been a member 2 months would know the complete ups and downs of how each Mod does their job on this site, Christian or not.

Mmmmm, it's delicious.

Edit: But that's not the only irony on this thread. It's gob-smackingly awesome.

Actually, a non-Christian might be impartial in such a dispute, whereas a Christian might not.

I can see why you might think that is true...

But?

Paul warned against doing that sort of thing with disputes amongst Christians. Not a good idea.

1 Corinthians 6:1 (New International Version)
"If any of you has a dispute with another, dare he take it before the ungodly for judgment instead of before the saints?"

They have no means to properly discern the doctrinal issues as they need to be seen.

1 Corinthians 2:14 (New International Version)
"The man without the Spirit does not accept the things that come from the Spirit of God, for they are foolishness to him, and he cannot understand them, because they are spiritually discerned."

If we were disputing an issue which was secular? Then I could see your point. The reason we as Christians can not be unbiased all the time is because we wrestle not against flesh and blood. Going to an unbeliever is only asking for even more trouble if it concerns matters of Christian belief....

In my humble opinion, GeneZ

They have been beacons during this time of chaos. Both of them are very deserving of praise.
