  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

How much do you honestly believe ministering to unbelievers over the internet will do? It might plant some seeds of thought, but it doesn't give anywhere near an accurate representation of our attitudes and actions, nor does it help propagate any kind of meaningful influence in another person's life. In my entire time online I have yet to see one meaningful conversion happen for this very reason.

This is a website; it's about words. Period. It might help a Christian to find a way to address a philosophic structure in an apologetic position in their daily lives, but it's not going to help another person to come to Christ unless that person is already interested in doing so and looking for information.

In two years here, I have led one person to Christ via PM, and received another PM indicating that their heart had been softened towards God due to one of my posts. Those two souls make it all worthwhile.

Neither was expected. It is as God wills it.

i'm still tryin to figure out why people thnk that non christians are unable to mod properly.

They are able to mod in "non-Christian Sections" but they are not able to mod in "Christian Sections". This is one area I am strongly believe in.

I'll ask one more time. Who dictated what you're proposing as Christian values? I don't see it in the Bible anywhere.
Are you saying that you don't believe that Christian values include tolerance, equality and kindness?

If that's the case, it needs to go on the record. Perhaps that would explain a lot of the problems here.

Were they looking for information on how to take the next step, so to speak, or did you have to argue with them over what "Sanctification" or some other Christian term actually means until they finally saw the light and decided to go get baptized at a local Church?

How did you express to them how you treat people in your daily life, other than in a completely impersonal and textified way, via writing your thoughts out to an impersonal text box? I've seen people put on a guise of being a good person online, when they really treat everyone else like dirt in their daily lives. I have more cynicism towards that ideology than probably anyone else on this site.

Have you ever met these people?

Do you know for a fact that you were the sole influence in their life that caused them to come to Christ?

No, I'm saying you have a different connotation to the terms than I would ascribe to a Christian value.

Yes.. grace gets abused because people are not following the laws. The key word here is "discipline" your flesh. Flesh-filled means "If we do not yield and honor the Holy Spirit, our lives will not show forth the blessed fruits of the Spirit!" Biblically, as a Christian, I should be submitted to, be modified and be conditioned by the Holy Spirit.

Sorry, hon, but while I agree that Christians do have structure in the form of Scripture and Church, this site has NEVER been one without scattering, separating, fracturing and those who would define "true" Christians. As far as the secular influence, we are in the world, but not of the world. That means we must be strong enough to resist any secular influence that tests our faith, yet able to work alongside those who do not believe as we believe.

We do not change the USA into a Christian nation by forcing Christian laws. Instead, we change the USA into a Christian nation by converting individuals.

Lisa

Right on!

We will bring the Light of Christ into the lives of many by showing love, encouragment, and kindness.

I have met many Muslims who are now Christians solely because someone showed them love. They told me that they were in a religion that promotes paranoia and they were so scared. When Christians showed them unconditional love, they craved that love and sought out Christ. They are so grateful for their newfound faith and are willing to die for their faith.

We are all called then to become the Holy Saints of God even while on this earth.

Through the prayers of the Holy Saints, O Christ our God, have mercy on us and save us.

I suggest when they count the final totals they do an IP search and make it one vote per IP address.

Some houses actually have 2 or 3 persons in them that are members. In my house, myself and my 17 year old daughter are members. She is not interested in politics, though, so she would likely not vote, but doing things via IP address is suspect for that reason.

I have to agree with Lisa on this one I actually came home to the Church partially because of what people on this website had done for me....What most people do not know about me is that when I came to this site I had to be taught the Trinity from people here... I believed in Tri-Une but not the concept of Trinity and there is a difference in the two concepts....

It was the Holy Spirit, not me.

The first was an agnostic who saw a post from August 17, 2005. I remember the date because it is my son's birthday. What was incredible was that the person saw my post and responded to it 18 months later. That is the work of the Holy Spirit. I have not seen him again.

The second had been "searching" for eight years. He asked a question. I responded with a very simple answer. He said he could believe in the idea of God, and even the resurrection, but couldn't seem to get the whole idea of salvation. I responded that there was a difference between believing in and believing on. I went on to explain that even demons believe in, but believing on was turning your entire life over to Christ. We went to PM in which we talked some more. He disappeared for about 30 minutes and came back a changed person. After a few more PM's, he also went away and I never heard from him again.

Over dramatic are we?

We already have non-Christian mods, and you know what? their doing a better job then 3/4 of the Christian mods

Exaggeration lessens your credibility. (Stick to more generic words like "many". It makes your post more believable.)

I use 40 posts per page. I went to sleep on page 8 of the last thread and read through page 20. Screw it. I"m not reading these 7 here. I"m tired. I need to cut my hair. I want to get ready for church.

1. Many people in this thread who have been excluded from the CO areas historically have referred to their haunts as the ghetto. Do you perhaps think that there might be something to this? Not just knee-jerk reaction by the people who have been the calmest and most rational in this dogpile.

2. If you think that the old way wasn't that bad; did you ever strip off your shiny badge and see what it's like on the other side? If it goes back to that, I dare you to try it. Take that special icon, turn it into seeker or something of your choice, and see what it's like. How many threads are you allowed to post in? Oh, that pub thread where everyone talks about inane stuff so that you feel mentally dead. If you're in WWMC, maybe 30% of the posts have an open tag. Whoohoo! You can post in a few threads. But that one about actual theology that you had a really good response for, nope, that's closed. And if you have a question, that, had it been raised by someone with the special icon, would be taken as a matter of course, but because of your non-special icon, that question must be posted in GA, a forum that moves so quickly that by the time you pm people who might have an answer to it, or be interested in it, it's on page 2 or 3.

3. How exactly have the CO fora been compromised since CF v. 3.0? There's still prohibition against proselytization! If people violate this rule, deal with it.

4. Show examples of how the heathen mods have compromised the value of Christianity.

That needs to be clarified. I am under the assumption that much of the Christian sections will be moderated by Christians who are voted by the Christian peers. If I am wrong, Erwin needs to clarify that.
