Before my life as a Christian I experienced many other beliefs. One thing I can not let go of is Astrology. I see it's evidence constantly. I have studied it in depth. I believe that it is a creation of God and something so amazing could not exist without Him, but is it still a sin to see the power in something He may not have intended for us to understand?

I don't know, Lost... my feeling is that if there is anything that He intends for us not to understand... we won't. Not completely. God doesn't make mistakes.

Kind of like when our parents told us when we were little that "when you're old enough to understand it fully, we'll tell you".

At best, any correlation to star positions and truth is coincidence.

Also, you'll find that God is very direct. When He says something, He says it. It is very clear - He gave us the Bible so we would know His will, and to a very good degree it is spelled out for us right there. He doesn't make us guess what He wants from us, I mean how much more specific can it be than "You shall not murder?" As for what we are to do with our lives, we have FREEDOM. We just need to BE who the Bible tells us to BE and the rest will take care of itself.

AvgJoe: I checked out that site - they do present a valid argument as far as the outdating of the stars positions - I will have to look into that! As far as twins go - your entire chart is composed of a multitude of signs, some of which could change in between the seconds that twins are born. Also, it is only certain astrologists who believe it can predict the future by making a chart of a moment in time. I only believe it effects our personalities. Anyway, thanks for your response.
twistedsketch: It does say not to worship the stars - but I do not do that. It also says I think in Issac that astrologers will burn. I hope this is not true for me! If I am truly in contempt of God then I beg to change! However, I can only hope that perhaps the context of these particular astrologers is different than my own. I see astrology as an amazing energy that was created by God Himself! Did they not use dream interpretation in the Bible - isn't that a form of the psychic? Could that not be wrong in a different context?

Same difference, the people in the Bible were just in it more deeply than you. And just as an FYI, it would be Isaiah, there is no book of Issac.

You can change. Ask God to show you what's NOT true about astrology and that you want to obey and follow Him. You need to be willing to give this up.

Astrology is not of god......it is a form of witchcraft.....we must realize as believers that there are two power sources in this world....Satan and God...while many astrologers and wiccans display great knowledge of the future....etc they are not reciving it from God but satan....look at moses in battle with the wizards.....while moses was a servant God ....God manifested power through him and those wizards not serving God manifestated power also.....but from who? satan! But God's power is greater than satan.....Many times with things of the occult like astrology etc people get caught up....and satan will take them into the world of darkness.....God is our guide and our light.....and we not to worry about our futures cuz we are in His hands period. One more time . . . I don't use astrology to predict the future!!!! Some astrologists are, indeed, known for doing this. All I believe is this: Stars and planets all release energy - this is obvious, look at the tides being affected by the moon! When you are born the position of these stars and planets affect your inner thoughts and emotions. I also believe that since these energies are constatly released, we are constantly affected by them differently depending on that original influence. I believe that God created the stars and the planets (heavens) as well as the energy they produce. Therefore I believe it is God who can therefore plan the time you are born based on the purpose he wants for you! Is that witchcraft? I don't use it to tell the future or predict events in your life. I only use it to better understand my personality, why I do things the way I do, why I can connect and clash with others, and what it is that I am meant for!

I don't see how the gravity, light, and whatever radiation is put off by these very, very distant stars can affect our personalities. Plus, wouldn't that minimal amount of energy be completely negated by the presence of the sun?

What I'm about to say, is out of love. I am not coming against you, just being obedient in sharing with you what I have discerned. You stated you could not let go of astrology and how you see it's evidence constantly, and you wanted to know if it was a sin. ReynaDreamz responded with the truth and you got very defensive. So I will share with you what I've learned in hopes that you will be able to receive in a positive manner.

Baal and Ashtaroth were worshipped by God's lost children. Baal was the moon god and Ashtraroth was the sun goddess. They had their prophets (false prophets) and they read the stars to speak prophecies to their followers. The prophecies were on point and made it easy to believe that they were true prophets of God.

Regardless of the fact that you say that you don't use it to predict the future, you are messing in the enemy's camp. It can seem innocent enough, but you are allowing poison to be poured into you. If you want to know more about your personality, seek the One who created you.

I used to be just like you and God revealed to me that it was a form of witchcraft and He had to deliver me from a generational curse.

Here are a few scriptures for you to look at. I also recommend reading My Spiritual Inheritance by Juanita Bynum. She has a whole area devoted to Ashtaroth and Jezebel and she explains how they use the stars as a form of deceit.

Also if you notice the accounts of the astrologers in the book of Daniel, they failed in thier attempts each and every time.

We are told not to look into or have anything to do with these kinds of things, for they are not of God. They are only from the devil and his fallen angles. But that is a totaly different subject that I will not get into here.

Actually, in the case of the birth of the Messiah it was the position of the Messiah that determined the position of the stars in the heavens and not the other way around. It is God who is Lord of all the Universe and our faith should be in Him alone and not in any aspect of the occult. The very reason why God prohibits believers from getting involved in the occult is because it works! But it is a trap to ensnare the unwary over to 'the dark side' (kicking and screaming if necessary). If it was just 'harmless mumbo-jumbo' then God wouldn't give two hoots whether we got involved in the occult or not but the fact is, God loves us passionately and he knows that the occult is a spiritual minefield specifically designed by the Evil One to ensnare and ultimately destroy the gullible, the stupid and the unwary who are foolish enough to think that they know better than God or are 'big enough to handle themselves'?! God will often let people find out the hard way that they need to trust him for a reason. It just isn't safe out there.
