Is it a sin to have out of body experiences / astral projection if you don't do it on purpose? Is that considered witch craft?

I'm not sure. Describe your experience.
I think witchcraft is basicaly doing your own will against God's will, by using deciet & occult power.

I hardly see how it could be a sin if you don't do it on purpose. I've experienced something that felt like one, though I don't know if it was real or not. But I never intended to do any "witchcraft."

I don't know what an "astral" experience is, but if someone is having them involuntarily then I see no reason to call it a sin. That doesn't mean it should be trusted though.

The question is whether one pursues astral projection and to what purpose?

Visions/dreams aren't exactly the same thing as astral projection, right?

So, yes, stay away from witchcraft associated things.

I doubt it but how does one accidentally use astral projection? I don't understand to well how that kind of stuff works. or where exactly it is, it seems to have something to do with the soul.

I would not be seeking if it was sin but seeking the Lord as to what it was that happened to you. God says if you lack wisdom that all you have to to is ask Him for it.

I was interested in this as a teenager. I looked into it a little. Ther e are stories of individuals who've had this ability & used it to help themselves & their families, etc. to find food & shelter & see trouble coming. I can't seem to remember anything wild or sensational associated wth it directly. I tried it myself a couple of times but I couldn't get my head out of my head, I think. I'm suspecting part of me didn't realy want to.

Once when I was riding in the back seat with some friends on our way to the lake, I suddenly was watching the car I was in from about 50-100ft above. I saw the car pull over & as it was stopping I zoomed real fast back into my body. It felt like a dream, but we were all pretty trashed. A few years later when I was 18, I finaly "ran away from home" so to speak, & lived pretty much on the streets in Berkeley, CA for a few months in the fall of '73. While there, I met this short, fat, little guy everybody called "Big Al". He was a real nice guy & always treated me decently tho we realy didn't hang out together. He was one of a community of astral travelers. He would sleep in a car he owned & I would see him at the free meal in a local church. He told me that he would leave his body at night, but for some reason (maybe all the other distractions) I never quizzed him thoroughly about it, so I don't realy know what all he did with it.

I read some stories that have referred to it, one of a guy who would travel along what he called the earth's "lay or ley lines" - I think it's the electromagnetic field of the earth - to go to neat places & learn about things. There's what's called the "acashik" (sp?) record - which is simply a 'record' of everything that's ever happened.

Judge by the fruit. Check your motives. That's all I got.

I believe sometimes it is a vision of God.. Just as dreams can be. scriptures tells us that we will see visions and dream dreams. Some men will prophecy and some have the gift of healing.. It is all in the body parts of the Lord.. For He is God all mighty and He speaks to His Children in many ways..This is why we seek for wisdom from the Lord. Just as the one was transported or translated to the unich in the chariot.. It is amazing what God will do with His people for those who believe and grasp the fullness of God.. Not rituals but actually walking as part of the body of Christ.

There are Christian stories of Christians having experiences that could reasonably be defined as out-of-body. The visions of John, Ezekiel, etc. in the Bible can be argued they were snatched up to Heaven. NDE's are out-of-body experiences--most of those probably are not witchcraft even though many of those are not even Christian. There's a book "28 Minutes in Hell" written by a Christian, which clearly that is an out-of-body experience but not an NDE.

Do note that by calling these not witchcraft, I do not mean to imply all of them are authentic.

Anytime The Holy Spirit enables a born again person (rom 10:9) to be translated the purpose has to do with proclaiming the Gospel.

Any other time it is demonic power that enables the person to "astral project". If ya think it "just happened" you are deceived and being drawn in by the demonic realm.

Some justify doing astral travel because Philip was transported. When I read that account, I particularly notice that Philip didn't do it but The Spirit of The Lord caught him away, (Acts 8:26, 39, 40).

I've read the results of folks doing this type of behavior and it doesn't always have pleasant endings. You know when Yahweh does something like He did with Philip, it's for His purposes. Otherwise, we just need to be content where we are.

This guy I met said it just naturally started happening when he was a child. it was Berkeley CA, in '73-74. He seemed to be a center of gravity so to speak, of a community of people who left their bodies at night. His would be left "sleeping" in his parked car.
For cash donations, he would give what we call life coaching. He would sit on the steps of the student union with this I mean HUGE bronze belt buckle of a moon and stars. People would walk up to him and speak to him, sit down and talk with him, most donated... it was really something to watch. Something spiritual in the air.
I checked him out. I think I remember him saying he was raised down South, Alabama maybe, and had Southern Baptist parents.
But he couldn't really talk to them about what was going on with him. He said he quickly found friends like himself, and learned to get along.
So what I'm thinking is that he IS where God put him, but he is like the rain that falls on the crops of the wicked, in a way. Providence is the grace by which Holy Spirit keeps mankind civil enough for Christian life.

Right. He seemed like a very decent person and did not use it for malice or ill-gotten gain.
