  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

I don't write poems like most people on this site, as you may soon see. But, this is where I will put some of my poems and allow discussion and comments on them so please, give an honest opinion. I'd like to know what people think.

A Note of Handshakes
9.13.02 by Michael David Perkins

You wrote me a note of handshakes in a cardboard box
Being rained on by a chilling winter rain.
My willingness has been bargained for cheaper version of the real thing

Looks nice on the outside, but doesn’t work half as good.
He doesn’t mind on the outside , he just laughs and shrugs his shoulders and smiles.

You gave me a jump last night, when you came in through the door
Right after Lucy and before The Dating Game
The dusk bunnies hopping around by moonlight cleaning trash up off the streets.

Even though you think you can barter your way outside of me you can’t throw the hard eight.
But you don’t mind, you just laugh and shrug your shoulders and stare right at your feet.
