• The General Mental Health Forum is now a Read Only Forum. As we had two large areas making it difficult for many to find, we decided to combine the Mental Health & the Recovery sections of the forum into Mental Health & Recovery as a whole. Physical Health still remains as it's own area within the entire Recovery area.

If you are having struggles, need support in a particular area that you aren't finding a specific recovery area forum, you may find the General Struggles forum a great place to post. Any any that is related to emotions, self-esteem, insomnia, anger, relationship dynamics due to mental health and recovery and other issues that don't fit better in another forum would be examples of topics that might go there.

If you have spiritual issues related to a mental health and recovery issue, please use the Recovery Related Spiritual Advice forum. This forum is designed to be like Christian Advice, only for recovery type of issues. Recovery being like a family in many ways, allows us to support one another together. May you be blessed today and each day.

Hi, I've seen a lot of posts about Aspergers related to the challenges and characteristic traits in reguards to having Aspergers. One thing Aspies are known for is making "lists" and obsessions and projects. I haven't seen too many posts about what those are though. I'm curious, what kind of projects, lists, or obsessions do you enjoy? Think over the past two or three days. How have you indulged your hobbies?

My hobbies include the following:

Environmental Studies/Education
Animals
Children
Herpetology
Photography
Art
Genealogy
Internetting (collecting webpages of interest)
Graphics Art
Math
Science

Lately though my interest has been in Symbolism (particularly animal symbolism) and in Therapy and personality stuff...kind of how people tick

Is that a good enough list to start with?

I've always heard them called 'obsessions' in connection to asperger's, so that's what I've always called them. So anyway, I tend to have a lot of fairly short-lived but fairly intense 'obsessions'. Some will last for several years or more, like my long-past Titanic obsession or my current Narnia craze, while others last just a few months or days, or even hours.

Some recent 'big ones':
Narnia
Phantom of the Opera and Lord of the Rings (lesser than Narnia, but still there)
Dolling/pixel art
Graphic arts and web design in general
Writing (original and fanfiction)
Icon/avatar making
Writing or thinking out analytical things (off and on, and often gets used up on school projects, but analysing things has long been a more-or-less hobby of mine)
Mary-Sue (yes, I really did turn the infamous fanfiction 'character' into a long-term obsession...)
Music (including many areas...)
Languages (mostly IPAs and learning basics of certain languages)
Copyrights (mostly just figuring out what fair use really means...)

And smaller ones over the last few days:
Studying the Victorian era (short-term, but definitely an obsession)
Finding interesting LJ communities
Christmas gift finding (for friends at school, thus the apparent lateness)
Jewelry making (mostly hemp jewelry)
Comics (a few newspaper comics in particular)
Developing characters
Mario Kart on Gamecube
Fanfic drabbles (haven't written any yet, but I just went on a LJ-drabble-community-searching spree...)
Looking into a possible new fandom (namely HP, that I may or may not actually get fully into, but looking into it's been pretty involved on it's own...)

Some that I want to get into more are things like handwriting analysis (crazy, yes, but it's always fascinated me for some wierd reason), diets for certain food allergies, fantasy (the genre), and more Bible study (definitely wish I could finally get it up to long-term obsession level...).

Probably a good deal more explanation and/or detail than you quite had in mind, but there you go.

My hobbies r as followed :

-Reading Books
-Learning about all sorts of facinating animals
-Playing on the computer
-Listening to music
-Doing Puzzles

I have totally endulged myself with playing on the computer and learing about all kinds of animals e.g the Mega Mouthed Shark. If u call learning about our family history a hobby add that one to my list, I am absolutly facinated with mine.

I like discovering symbolism in the bible and remembering verses.

Other than that I enjoy listening to music and remembering how it sounds in my head and mixing it in my mind.

I might have more hobbies, but lately I've been stuck at work. I get good pay, but I sit around all day on the internet.
