Asking for prayer.

Last night I was awakened with what felt like a tremendous demonic oppression, it felt like a demon was hovering over me. I had never had that kind of experience before, at first I thought I was just dreaming, but as I became fully awake I could sense its presence. I immediately asked the Holy Spirit to intervene and began spiritual warfare, within a few moments I felt it leave and a peace came over me and I went back to sleep.

This experience has unnerved me, I question what I could have been doing to attract this kind of demonic activity, I have had area’s of weakness in the past, but I am overcoming them. As of lately I have sought harder than ever to get close to the Holy Spirit and seek his wisdom and guidance.

Also I live in California and feel there is a some horrible times coming for our state, I’m sixth generation Californian, but I also realize the spiritual oppression here is very strong in some areas, San Francisco and Monterey being the worse.

Any thoughts or prayers will be greatly appreciated.

You are. In our prayers. You did the right thing and prayed and resisted the evil one. God is with you and you need not fear. Ever trust the loving Lord!

Not quite sure how to put it clearly, but at times as we grow closer to God, the enemy also turns on the heat. Pray, persist, submit yourself to God, resist the devil, and he will flee.
General other areas to investigate would be for ungodly articles in the room or house, remove them, destroy them. Also, generation sin is another possibility and for that pray, go before God, repent on behalf on ancestors sin as if it is your own, and ask God to forgive you. Then declare the curses broken in the name of Jesus, and lastly command and spirits to leave in the name of Jesus. There are many other options / reasons, but I would like to think it is as per paragraph 1 above.

Thank you all for your prayers and responses. I believe this was an attack based on my seeking guidance from the Holy Spirit much more intensely than I have in the past. One of the issues we have today we have no Pentecostal churches in our area, I'm retired but have thought about starting one, but not sure if I'm up to it. The local Baptist church has a retired Pentecostal pastor as an associate pastor but he has indicated he believes he is where God wants him. May he is right and they will get filled with the spirit.

Praying for the Lord to guide you

The Lord appears to have a ministry for you...I have learnt to spend time in prayer and reading the Bible...this is a favourite verse of mine,
Proverbs 3:6

Seek the Lord... may he make himself real to you, and the path that he wants you to take
